continually saying “lol. j/k” is, apparently, not gay

Well you may have alot of growing up to do, lol j/k.
Coldplay is a great band. I know the homophobes won’t give it a shot because they think it will make them look to feminine. Which in turn makes them feel like they are gay I guess.
To find true balance in yourself you need to stop denying both sides of your inner self. Feminine & Masculine.
hahaha ! totally! …coldplay, oasis, radiohead, all the same self-loathing man-love-slathering syrup…er not that there’s anything wrong with that.
You, sir, know nothing about music if you dare compare Radiohead to Oasis or Coldplay.
That is all.[/quote]
dude i never said i knew anything about music. but i am an expert in self-loathing man-love-slathering syrup. clearly you need a refresher course: oasis, radiohead, coldplay, doves, jeff buckley(rip), travis, badly drawn boy, morrissey: all the same sticky drivel.
“creep” is probably the most putrid song ever written and will soon overtake r.e.m.'s “everbody hurts” as the number one potty-pants song as well.
I fail to see where Cold Play is gay. What a man can’t sing a song about any emotions without being gay? Get the FU*K out of here with that crap. It takes a stronger more secure man to do it. Real men don’t hide their emotions, it does not mean they cry and slobber when they hear a song, it means they can listen and relate in their own way.

it’s not about being gay. it’s about being gay . being lame . being limp. this is of course my opinion but coldplay and all those bands of their ilk are frickn manufactured phony cerebral emotion. so they’re gay. you know ? queen: one of the greatest bands of all time are gay but not gay. judas priest: gay but not gay. hell even the village people: gay but not gay…on the other hand you got coldplay:
not gay but gay.

Ah, an opinion I can disagree with but respect. I get what you’re saying man. I just don’t agree with your application of said thought to Coldplay.

I can be perfectly in tune with my emotions listening to the likes of Slayer and Motorhead.
If you can’t see how Coldplay are gay, then you probably can’t see the forrest for all the penises.

You’re contradicting your buddy swivel, whose thoughts on how “gay” Coldplay is makes a LOT more sense…though I don’t agree with it. You’re thinking stab a bro in the ass gay, he’s thinking contrived music (aka “tacky”) gay. Big difference. Though there’s nothing wrong with it…
Surely you’re not accusing male Coldplay fans of being homos…

That “stab a bro in the ass gay” line is funny.
I don’t like Coldplay for the same reasons I don’t like elevator music - it’s just annoying background music. It’s designed for guys who wear beige cardigans to listen to so they can say to chicks “see how sensitive I am?”. I would sooner cut off my penis and become a lesbian than go to a Coldplay concert. It would be like partying with tax accountants (RainJack not included).
I probably just don’t get it. I don’t get why dudes wear cardigans, why elevators have such crap music or why listening to Coldplay makes you emotionally enlightened but listening to MachineHead means you are not in touch with who you are.
PS I said Coldplay were gay. Their fans are probably just in training…
Fair enough Massif. I’m sure a lot of what you’re saying is TIC, but somewhere along the line you do believe some of those thoughts too. It’s too bad since that stereotyping goes against being a t-man. You sure as hell wouldn’t find me wearing a cardigan or faking who I am to impress a chick and I think Coldplay is a good band. I think I’ll play some of their music right now…

Dude - relax. I’m half fucking with you.
I don’t listen to Coldplay because I don’t listen to much mellow music. I would sooner everything be nice and quiet. That relaxes me much more than mellow tunes.

Yea i know exactly what you’re saying, especially being that i own Queen albums. But i can assure you that Coldplay is NOT a manufactured band like Creed. Coldplay are real artists with their own sigature sound. I tkae my music seriousley and would hate to find out coldplay was a corporate band, which they’re not.
If anyone wants to listen to some music that deals with ‘emotions’ in an original way, check out Atreyu. Here’s their lyrics : ATREYU LYRICS - "The Curse" (2004) album
Coldplay is just drivel. Gay or not is irrelevant. The issue here is how this band became so famous. If you dont understand a song it doesnt mean its layered and complex. Their songs are so wrapped up in metaphor they could mean just about anything.
I want to grab Chris Martin by the ears and say “What the fuck do you mean…spit it out man!” And I’m not a violent man by nature.
I can forgive a lot of similar bands slated here (radiohead, oasis) as their overall sound is at least enjoyable.
If songs could have a period, coldplays would.
I’m guessing the people here that think Coldplay sucks/blows only heard their made-for-radio singles. That’s too bad. Hell, even Coldplay’s biggest critic on this thread (swivel) unknowingly listened to one of their non-radio songs and liked it. Maybe you guys are forgetting the fact that every band that hits the mainstream today has at least one song that’s made for radio (read: contrived) to get them publicity. It’s (unfortunately) how the music industry works these days.
Alright here’s my two cents, maybe more. I still think Coldplay can lick my balls. With that being said I can also say that yes, they are talented. They are good at what they do, it’s just not for me…They’re not ground breaking in the least and they’re not complex in the least. They just make mellow emotional music which is fine for some.
Now Radiohead just simply CANNOT be lumped into anything like this catagory. Radiohead did some very experimental stuff and they did it WAY before anyone else did. They’re lyrics are not about finding a lost love, they’re about spirituality and human kind. Study up on Radiohead and you will become a fan.
Someone mentioned Creed earlier and I just have to comment that they were one of the worst cookie cutter made to design bands out there. I’m glad they’re done. Now Alter Bridge, (Creed w/o Stapp) is pretty good.

Yeah Cold play is not ground breaking. That’s true, but this is the reason i like them. They went back to basics with their rock. Like the Beatles they have the guitar, piano and drums. Very basic.
Creed does suck and their corporate rock just blows and is an insult to real artists.
I feel your comments about coldplay being good but not your cup of tea is fair and honest. It takes class to say something you don’t like is good and you see that it’s good but you just don’t like it cause it’s not your cup of tea.
