Where is your evidence that conservatives are more open-minded than liberals?
When GWB was in the White House and republicans dominated congress, did you make a similar thread criticizing the close-mindedness of conservatives?
Honestly, this thread just seems like an attack on liberals. The truth is that your criticism applies equally to some (not all) people from both parties.[/quote]
I didn’t criticize GWB and the republican congress because THEY DIDN’T PREACH TOLOERENCE. If liberals want to claim that they and conservatives are equally tolerent (or intolerent) thats fine. Just stop advertizing your open-mindedness

Everyone who has answered you has refuted you. You cannot generalize liberals.
They are no more part of an absolutist collective than conservatives are.

I would refute it in that broad labels seldom hold to everybody… That being said, I agree with the sentiment. It does seem that they are more close minded than their conservative counter parts. I attribute this to the fact that their stance on issues tend to be fragile because often the facts stand against them.
I am painting with a very broad brush here, but this is my observation.

Close-mindedness and intolerance are only two of many traits common to the Human Condition.
In other words, they are a product of who an individual is instead of some political ideology they may hold.

So it’s ok to be close-minded as long as you don’t advocate open-mindedness? WTF?

No but the hypocrisy of speaking in favor of open-mindednss while not actually subscribing to it would be extra annoying. No body likes a hypocrite.
Speaking in general here not in reference to either side.

Since you probably are a conservative, that’s how you see the situation. Many liberals will feel that it is exactly opposite, and many neutral people will say that both sides are just as bad. One has to love the irony of such a close-minded thread aiming to point out liberal close mindedness.
