I heard a radio program (Whitley Streiber) last night that was really offensive. The host
and guest were arguing that Arabs who are “angry” at the US are justified because
of the disparity in wealth between us and them.
That anyone could give this any credibility, let alone advance it publicly at this time
as if it were true, is pretty offensive.
Let’s look at the facts. No one from other countries gives us trillions of dollars for
some resource of ours that we ourselves have no use for, or for any other reason… no one from other countries works to help us really.
Why, when Arab countries have the advantage
of such massive infusions of money, do they not do at least as well as we do without that?
“The fault, dear Brutus, lies not in your
stars, but in yourself.” (OK, probably not an exact quote.)
Look at the Japanese. Who gives them trillions of dollars for their natural resources? No one. Where were they just a couple of generations ago? With nothing. Where are they today? With the kind of wealth and lifestyle these Arabs are so angry about. Why? Because they make and do things that are of value. These Arab nations do not.
There’s nothing except themselves stopping them from having a standard of living as
good as ours or better.
Their anger should be analyzed as being due
not to any actual injustice against them,
but anger they have as a response to their own failure, due to culture and attitudes they have that prevent them from achieving what we do. Oh, and of course their multibillionaire playboy 3-inch-dicked “leaders.”
I’m no censor, but these leftists who try to justify radical Arabs like this, or who demand that the American flag be taken down because it might “offend someone” or is “divisive,” are
pretty sickening, and I hope people see them for what they are and that they lose their audience.
Bill, you’re exactly right that what this
person was arguing is absurd. But if you do
the research, it is even factually incorrect.
The reasons that Osama etc. attack the US -
the reasons they have explicitly stated
and that have been reported - are 1)The US
maintains military presence in “holy land” of
Saudi Arabia; 2)The US Bombed the shit out of
Iraq, who they consider a “friend,” and that
the US continues sanctions on Iraq, killing
lots of civilians; and 3)Because the US
supports the “evil” jews in Israel. Now one
could argue whether or not those US foreign
policies are appropriate, but that still
doesn’t justify the attacks on the US. In any
case, the person on this radio show either
didn’t know what the fuck he was talking
about, or he is lying and using the situation
to advance his own socialist agenda.
That outrageous claim is fostered by the absurd notion that that people have a right to food, shelter, clothing, health care, education, and a decent standard of living. If you’re denied something you have a right to, then of course it makes sense that you would attack those responsible.
Unfortunately, this way of thinking (or should I say nonthinking) is growing in popularity with the expansion of the nanny state.
although on the most part i agree, i do want to offer a somewhat contradictory view point. “The US Bombed the shit out of Iraq, who they consider a “friend,” and that the US continues sanctions on Iraq, killing lots of civilians” The one problem i have is that i saw a report off of yahoo news, on a serries of detailed briefs and studies conducted by the pentagon, on how we were purposely making it near impossible for iraqis to get clean water. In no way does this justify terrorism, but by doing this the US is violating the Geneva accords, and certainly not doing a good PR job for the middle east. Again before people try to lynch me, this justification stuff is bullshit, i just wanted to get this one bit of info off my chest.
Anyone who tries to justify the mass killing of civilians is deluded. Nothing justifies such a despicable deed. The reason for the Arab resentment is incorrect to boot. Most Arabs I know really, really resent America’s one-sided support of Israel. Of course, the whole idea of creating a homeland of the Jews out of territory they had left 2000 years ago really irks them too. I have known absolutely no one who is NOT of Judeo-Christian background support Israel as a nation nor the concept. You take Jews, Christians and Muslims out of the picture and anyone will agree that it was lamebrained for the Brits to arbitrarily draw up Israel to the detriment of the people living there–the Palestinians. This should have never been a religious issue–merely one of fairness, but by carving a nation based on religion and ethnicity out of territory already rightfully occupied ranks up there among the dumbest ideas to date. For the most part, Americans, buoyed by the powerful Jewish lobby, have blindly supported Israel. Clinton is the only president who even tried to be more even-handed. It is this fact Arabs resent about the U.S.
I’m all too familiar with this sort of nonsense. It’s time to take the gloves off with these cretins. These people are for the most just hate-filled losers who rather than admit the roots of their problems lie within their misrable lives choose to vent their hate at middle class Americans. The reason I’m so angry is I’ve watched my country (Canada) being taken over by these parasites. The self-loathing of the “liberal left” leads them to attack what they envy. Nothing bothers these people more than to see an attractive man/woman, who has a good job and leads a happy active life because these losers can’t have the same due to whatever shortcomings they have.
