Your opinion is speculation beyond what the text says. It’s not good to form doctrine on such speculation.
Read your history, Chen, and definitely don’t lecture me on speculating when that is precisely what you’re doing.
It is laughable to maintain that she is his only wife at that point.
Dude, I’ve read plenty of the history of Israel as well as that period. Who is lecturing, just having a discussion. I think your position is wrong. I have not speculated. I have formed a conclusion based on what the text says. I have not added or taken away.
The text is not an historical one. You need other sources.
I have no idea what your point is. I thought we were discussing what the Song of Solomon taught.
Aragorn. I owe you this publicly. I did not mean to imply by “stealth disciple”, my discipling you in any way. I apologize if it sounded that way. I would never presume to disciple anyone who did not ask and even then I am wary. I meant that true faith in Christ is by definition not private. I don’t hide my views from anybody (in case you haven’t noticed).

If you will examine WHEN the Song was written you will discover it was not written when he first became king and took his first wife.
Solomon was under 30 when he became king, probably about 20. Shortly after he became king he married the daughter of Pharaoh (1 Kings 3:1).

Sorry, we’re discussing 10 years here. The date of the writing of S of S cannot be established that accurately.

There is a strong case to be made that “The daughters of Jerusalem” mentioned several times in S of S are the women in Sol’s harem. For one thing nothing else really makes sense.
It’s not that strong I’m sure. I don’t think it means that at all.

In a way this discussion reminds me of the teetotalers who INSIST that Jesus would NEVER had made actual alcoholic wine at the wedding in Cana. “No way!!!”
Well he made wine for sure. I would think since he just made it, it hadn’t had a chance to ferment at all. I just go by what the bible says ya know.
