Get it right Zimmerman reffered to trevoryn as a coon. Extremely derogatory term. Explain how he was defending himself when he was in a car, on the phone with 911 and was told to back off. Not only did he have a gun, he had a 5,000 lb weapon. yet he chose to get out and go after a teen. Racist or not this country is far from getting over anything.
Bottom line is a teen was shot by someone who had no cause to do so. This young lady in the video was sick and on something. Everyday meaningless acts occur and are driven by peoples’ stupidity. Your first paragraph is totally irrelevant to this situation, I don’t even know what your point is. This was in Florida, not Alabama.
Second, I listened to the tape. It was not clear in the least that he said “coon”. You can google the article where a sound expert cleaned it up and determined he said “punk”, which makes a whole lot more sense considering 1) nobody uses the word “coon” anymore and 2) he was on the phone with the police. Zimmerman’s father has also come out and said his son is not a racist, and that he has many black friends and relatives.
Third, ‘Goodfellow’ had no influence on my post. The irony here is clear as day. A black woman can get up in the middle of class, scream racial slurs, threaten to kill people, assault a white guy for “raping her ancestors” and it’s not racist. She’s just “crazy” and MUST be “on something.”
A white-hispanic man (CNN made sure to make the distinction that he was not a hispanic but a white-hispanic because minorities simply can’t be racist) gets into an altercation with a black kid, ends up injured and it simply can not be self defense. He must be a racist.

So are you saying that even though racism MAY have been a factor in these events, there is little evidence that it was and until and unless it is shown to be, we should be discussing the known issue at hand. Namely that this girl was crazy as hell and why in the world did it take so long for the school’s security/police to show up? I agree completely. I listened to the tape, as well, and posted something similar in that thread.
While the word Zimmerman used is almost completely unintelligible, I really have no idea how someone can mistake the clear ‘p’ sound beginning the word for a ‘c’.
I mentioned that I thought it sounded more like pook… and was waiting for people to make an obvious connection to another derogatory term. Not because I suspect that’s what he said (there’s no ‘s’ preceding the p), but because it would really illustrate the way some people are trying very hard to hear what they want to out of that clip.
