So Mr. Pushups should have been allowed to stay on the site?
Balkos? Al Shades? xcelticx? Kim Jong il?
C’mon. Censorship is practiced very rarely here, and normally if one of my posts gets rejected, it probably deserved it.
Throwing a troll off the damn site is in no way comparable to repression of free speech. I like to think of it as “thinning the herd” when they’re chucked.
He has posted at least six threads all about religion, one that condemned us all to hell for not thinking like him. There is no debate, no intelligent thought there.
Throw him off. Be done with it.
There are a couple points about freedom of speech that many people do not understand. (Understanding, of course, IANAL)
You have a right to have and express your opinion.
You do NOT have the right to be listened to, in fact, everybody else has the right to IGNORE your opinion.
For each and every opinion, other people have the right to ridicule it, because that’s their alternative opinion. Ridicule is in no way, shape or form censorship. You should feel free to ridicule this if you like.
If you can’t take the ridicule, then don’t express the opinion.
Finally, I can’t understand why some of you people get so upset over things on these forums. JUST IGNORE THEM. Some people thrive on the controversy. Ignore them and they’ll go away.
That deserves emphasis by repetition: Ignore them and they’ll go away. Avoid the urge to dive in the mud.
Remember the analogy of wrestling with a pig. The pig enjoys it, and eventually you both get so dirty the observers can’t tell one from the other.

Ignore the poster and he’ll go away. These types thrive on the argument, so don’t reply, don’t post, just ignore it. Nothing pisses them off like being ignored.
Your blood pressure will be so much better too.
rainjack wrote:

It’s a pretty quick read too.
FightinIrish26 wrote:

On the contrary, throwing any poster off makes him/her a “martyr” and gives him special status in his own mind. If the rules aren’t broken, let them be.
And he/she will just come back as a sock puppet anyway.
Nothing Steveo has written on this forum comes even close to being something that should be censored. To find possible candidate posts for censoring, you must look at threads that discuss muslims or frenchmen.

Psst…hey vroom you just described plenty of people on this site. But, I’ve never seen you go after anyone with the same tenacity that you do Stevo. Why don’t you give him a break and knock it off?
Bullshit, I go after everyone. Hell, you and I have clashed enough in the past that you know that… ![]()

Hmm…I think you “debate” everyone. I’ve never seen you shy away from a good debate. But in Stevos case, while you debate him you also do an amazing amount of name calling. And unlike others that you have gone after, including me, I detect a real hatred for this guy. Now I could be wrong but it sure seems like the ole’ vitriol faucet is stuck in the “on” position whenever you post to Stevo.
FightinIrish26 wrote:

So…you ARE in favor of censoring someone for their pro religious rhetoric?
Does that also apply to those who post their staunch “anti religious” beliefs as well?
There are many on this site who have offended people regularly by denouncing God, Christ and the Bible. They are very outspoken, just like Stevo.
Should we throw them off too? Or, is it just the staunchly pro Christian that you will not tolerate?
Should freedom of speech end for a person simply because you disagree with his message?

I hate the god squad threads and I generally ignore them. I think they bring down this forum but I do not think they should be censored.
I think there are many things that should be censored, including but not limited to the obvious spam, the neo-nazi ravings of assholes and threats of violence.
This website belongs to Biotest. They do not have to give equal time to every crackpot that comes along.
I don’t think anyone would complain if they just didn’t allow multiple conspiracy posts etc. to appear at the same time. Good taste as opposed to censorship.

Zeb, you are one of the folks that I think are somewhat blinded by the fact that Steveo hides behind faith.
I have no hatred of Steveo at all, though there is certainly some heat between him and I. It’s not one way.
The fact that he likes to characterize everyone that he annoys as being somehow against religion does not make it so.
He’s getting a free pass that he doesn’t deserve, and yes, that does annoy me.

The fact that he treats his Holy Book like you do, i.e. he bends it like a bretzel when he feels he knows what His Lord says, instead of listening what He actually has to say also makes Orion very sad.
I cannot respect peoples beliefs if they do not respect them themselves, i.e accept them when it gets uncomfortable.
Someone with a hook line like “bow or burn” should know his stuff beyond some wishful thinking he found on a Christian website.

I don’t think that is the case. He is impassioned regarding his faith.
I have to differ with you here vroom. Almost from your very first post you came out swinging. I think Steveo took quite a few before even attempting to defend himself. And when he did you used it to question his faith…I mean…come on…
Keep in mind that if you did not click on his threads you would not be “annoyed.”
Fair?
And, I would like some examples of how he is annoying you.
Does it annoy you when others attack God? Many, many do it on this very forum. They are sarcastic, abrasive and very disrespectul of those who believe in God. But I don’t see you out front leading a charge to silence them.
Should we be able to silence those whom we disagree with?
I think if you examine what really bothers you about Stevo you will find that it IS his message more than how he delivers it.

Orion…forgive me, but YOU questioning anothers Bible knowledge is like Richard Simmons giving Boxing tips to Mike Tyson.
Zeb,
Upon reflection, I’m actually a bit annoyed that you think you have a leg to stand on in this conversation.
How many people have you written to T-Nation management about because you didn’t like their posting style?
I know I was one. I saw Harris griping about it recently as well. How in the hell do you get off criticizing people for disliking the direction Steveo is trying to take the forums when you routinely attempt to exert influence on peoples ability to post?
You are a hypocrite. I’m not going to waste a moments time trying to justify my viewpoint to you.
In an issue such as this you have absolutely zero credibility. As far as I know those of us annoyed by Steveo have limited ourselves to complaining in the forums - it isn’t like we’ve written to management petitioning for his “correction”, unlike yourself.
I can’t believe I even bothered to consider your viewpoint on this issue seriously!
I’d rather discuss this with Steveo than yourself, at least he hasn’t tried to have my viewpoint squelched, at least that I’m aware of.
Steveo, kudos to you in that respect, honestly.
I’m out.
vroom,
Well that’s interesting. Not unlike what you do to Stevo either. Instead of staying on topic you turn it into a personal attack on me. Complete with name calling…Gotta love it. ![]()
Good job vroom.
LOL

The trick is I do not have to understand it better as a whole, I only have to show that you and him have erred at least once.
I, or rather forlife, have done that, though I do give myself credit for doing some legwork.
So, having proven that both of you do not preach THE WORD OF THE LORD but rather your flawed/incomplete version of it, we are at a point were some moderate Christians on this board began:
A lot of time has passed, a lot of scriptures have been tampered with, so let us concentrate on the main message of love, peace and inderstanding.
PS: You could have had it easy. The Bible is neither pro- nor anti- polygamy and Christians are told to “follow the law of the land”.
But no, your LORD MUST hate the same people you do, even if he loves them like he loved David.

But that’s the part that you ALWAYS fail to do. And why? Because you don’t know what you’re talking about regarding that specific topic. You can no more explain the Bible to someone than I can sit down and play Beethoven’s 5th after one lesson.
I agree partially with what you are stating. Peace and love are important. But I have to disagree with your comments about scripture being “tampered with.”
