Career Advice Needed

Hey everyone, my name is Akhil. I am 19 year old college student in a predicament right now. I have been attending a community college in California for the last year and a half studying courses so I can transfer to an undergraduate University Economics program.

I have one more semester left before I transfer. Lately though, I have been rethinking my path, I now have started realizing that Economics doesn’t give me huge opportunities. Before College I had a huge interest in physical therapy, and I am starting to realize I should go back to it. I enjoy working out, I enjoy reading articles on rehabilitation, nutrition or anything else related to wellness. If I decide to change I would have to stay another year or two at the community college before I transfer out. I really want to get the hell out of community college.

Any advice?
Anyone else in the same situation?

thank you.

You have to make the decision for yourself.

If I were in your situation, it would mean more to me to have a career that I really enjoyed. You’re also more likely to be successful with something you’re really passionate about.

Though I noticed you didn’t say you didn’t enjoy Economics, just that you were concerned about the opportunities?

My advice is to follow your heart. You don’t want to end up in a career you hate. Only way to know for sure is to actually try it. If you think you are interested in PT, see if you can shadow one. Without gettin your hands dirty, its purely theoretical.

I have considered business, PT, Psychology, Law, and being a S&C coach. None of those really grasped me by themselves. I like being able to help people on a personal level, as well and physically makin em stronger in the weight room. I have found my calling as a teacher and football coach. I just finished up my first year as a volunteer coach with my old varsity program. By far the most rewarding experience I have had.

It blends the two things I love the most in life into one career, which is sure to give me a reason to get out of bed and get after it for the rest of my life.

do what makes you happy.
