Can't Eat It All

I usually schedule my workouts between coming home from work & dinner.

I’ll usually have a protein drink 10 minutes or so before the workout, drink water liberally during the workout, then have protain/carb (27gm protein, 50-60gm carb) immedately after, and then have dinner shortly after.

But I find if I try to eat a John Berardi-style meal (a salad with 4 oz spinach, 4 oz carrots and a full chopped-upapple, plus at least 8 oz of meat) soon after the PW protein drink, I have trouble finishing the meal. I’m just with stuffed with quarter plate to go.

Do I need to add more time between the PW drink and the dinner? Keep the pre-workout drink but cut the post-w drink if I’m having dinner soon afterward, or do I need more time between the post-w drink and dinner?

You need to force that shit down your throat.

Try adding more time between the PWO meal and dinner. Like 60-90 minutes. You could also reduce the size of the dinner. Do you get up in the middle of the night and have snack?

In my case, the PWO drink has an interesting effect: if I take it and don’t eat anything in the following 90 … 120 minutes, I get a case of raging hunger. But it always takes more than 60 minutes after swallowing the PWO drink to happen.

So I guess that’s your answer.

Then depending on the length of the workout, I’d be eating dinner at 7-8 pm. And if I really were getting 8 hours a sleep a night, I’d have to be in bed by 9.

Invest in Gourmet Nutrition and eat a solid post workout meal for dinner and maybe halve your PWO drink. You still get to eat Berardi style and he has some pretty tasty meals in there.
