Canadian Provinces -> U.S. States?

This stupid way of thinking has all to do with the xenophobic old fucks that inhabit that province.

I think one of the old fucks you speak of was Jacques Parizeau the Premier of Quebec at the time. I will never forget the night he gave his speech after the they lost. I was at work listining to it on the radio. When he said that they lost the referendum because of money and the ethnic vote my jaw just dropped to the floor. What a fucking tool. That flushing sound you heard was his political career going down the drain after that speech.
I was alluding more to the general population. I’ve spoken to some of them. They are the Texans of Canada. Or maybe is it Californians?

Quebec is extremely liberal, far more so than the rest of Canada (which by American standards is already very Liberal) and the anti-American sentiment there is very strong. I have doubts that any province would elect to join the US, except perhaps Alberta.

“That’s only fair since Canadians got free defense courtesy of the US taxpayer anyway.”
Defense from what exactly? The fucking Soviets? lol

Albertans are the Texans of Canada, gun-toting, oil-crazy Tories ^^ lol

Ha! The Canadians that want to become American do so and leave.

As for the rest of us, try that ‘annexation’ bit and overnight you’ll see IEDs popping up in every major city.

Is that a path you’d really want to choose?

Addendum:

As for Makow’s link to THIS:

Anyone offended or seeing something “wrong” with these celebrations needs to pull the five-foot, Canadian-made, maple-shaft hockey stick out of their ass.

Our women just won the biggest hockey game in the world in our own back yard. If they weren’t having a party on center ice I would be severely disappointed. We are not descended from puritans and anyone expecting us to behave as such needs to go fuck themselves in whatever way their uptight cultural upbringing dictates ‘appropriate’.

Makow is a Canadian and reports everything from pretty much a Canadian’s POV. And then…you’re obviously a victim of Illuminati mind control. See his site for absolute proof!

Elbow Strike,

Wouldn’t it be cool if the Canadian Ladies Hockey Team made a lesbian group porn vid? They’d sure find a good use for those bottles!! They’d make millions.

Why not? What’s the deal here?
Apologies for not responding, I forgot about this thread.

You’ve probably seen the comments that followed regarding the last post-referendum speech. Basically, the (political) French-speaking population does not really believe in equal freedoms for all.

Some examples of this are invoking the “Notwithstanding” clause in Canadian law to force only French signage, education laws around the French speaking population sending kids to English speaking schools, and there have been a number of incidences in the past few years over stores offering various ethnic food and muslim girls in sports (similar to the issues in France).

Now going back to my post, status First Nations residents do not pay tax in Canada, can receive free (or near free) post-secondary education, and in recent years have been winning most Federal land disputes. I don’t see Quebec being so generous as to put those costs on the backs of the French speaking population at a time they would be absorbing massive debt and increasing deficits (due to Federal funding being cut-off).

You know you’d love it. To see all your hot young stars playing for the cameras. Hell, in a country of 23 million, you’d have a million dvds sold.
