Canadian Election

I think we all need to applaud the Green Party for their accomplishment of winning a seat in the House of Commons!! Even though the outcome didn’t turn out the way I wanted to, a majority government, no matter who is running the country is a hell of a lot more efficient than a minority.

It stands for New Democrat Party

Basically there are 3 main parties…

NDP - Left wing

Liberals - Left-centre

Conservatives - Right-Centre

Why do you care?[/quote]

Liberals gets elected by presenting themselves as left-center but govern like right-center
conservative are right, not right-center

I think politics in Canada have shifted to the Right in general so it just seems that way.

I wouldn’t put the Conservatives as right wing simply because compared to the 2 main American parties, the Conservatives are still far from right wing.

Democrats and Republicans are truly right wing parties, Conservatives are not IMO.

Yeah, I never really liked this system. I think if the winner cannot get enough seats to form a majority, the opposition and any other parties should have to give up seats to the party in power until they do have a majority.

Re: Abbotsford People - Ed Fast is a an arrogant dick, but he has the support of the Christian Alliance, therefore we will never unseat him. Look at what happened in Chilliwack Chuck Strahl was replaced without question by his son, doesn’t show up to any debates, fails to make public appearances but is still elected without question. You can always look to the bible belt of Canada for unfailing ignorant allegiance.

^you cant beat this: there is a 20 years old english-speaking (only I think) female, from ontario and Mtl resident since 4 years, studying political science at McGill (first year, Mcgill is the only English university here) who got elected for the NPD in Terrebonne-Blainville (which is french-speaking).

Never went there (north shore of Mtl), didnt put any banner and didnt do any campaign but still got elected. She didn’t answer any call from the local newspaper until the last (Maybe the preserve the deception)

In fact she presented herself to allow people the choice to vote NPD. Didn’t ever think she would ever get elected. If the morons here would have made 5min of research on the candidate instead of voting blindly for the party she would NEVER have been elected. Now we have her instead of the bloc candidate who gave her whole life for politics and Quebec.

The NPD could have putted an scarecrow there instead and it would have been elected. that piss me off

shit I wrote a long and I dont think it came out.

Reading the paper the next day I know why male voters elected that young lady. She’s smoking hot. I believe she was also in Vegas during campaigning… in her defense she is the assistant manager of a McGill pub. I will also ignore the 3-4 other McGill Students elected to parliment!

I think the bump in polls the NDP received this election is the result of disatisfaction with Ignatief and Duceppe. I know nothing about the polit. climate of Quebec so that may not be accurate. Ignatief just seemed like a giant bag of dicks during this entire election.

Ps. ya’ll still want to seperate from the rest of us?
