This.
I tend to stick to the nigiri when I do all you can eat…the rolls are good but they’re more filling and I like to get my money’s worth :). The rolls also have a lot more fat (avocado, cream cheese, mayo, tempura fried shit, etc), so they’re not as conducive to the low fat refeeds that I use the sushi bars for. You can usually ballpark nigiri pretty well since it’s so simple. However, the rolls (and especially the more proprietary recipes each place has) are best left to days when you’re just going to say “fuck it” since the nutrition info is so difficult to pin down.
Speaking of, I need to do all you can eat sushi soon. It’s been a while.
The more I read and examine the idea of a huge sushi pigout…the likelihood of real significant fat gain is ridiculous. As stronghold has pointed out…I will 90% stick to fish on rice…not really any crazy rolls etc. This is what I enjoy anyway. Assuming I genuinely am atleast partially glycogen depleted…and that this meal will come post workout…I’ll have a relatively large carb sink. This isn’t much of a mixed feed…its mainly just carbs and protein with little fat… So…muscle fullness, yes…Significant fat gain, no. Even in a 500-1000 surplus. My opinion.
^ I always start with 20 pieces of salmon sashimi before anything else

Sounds like my all-you-can-eat sushi wrecking crew. And 10 saba, and 6 oysters, and…
Of course, depends on what you go for, and I agree sashimi’s probably the best call if you want to enjoy without minimal calorie overload.
Best,
David

You’re not going to get fat off of reasonably overeating on one meal, especially something that consists of fish rice and vegtables. You sound like a chick right now.

Lol…I basically am.
I abandoned all caution…at first I stuck to the nigiri and the sashimi…a few roll pieces on each plate…after about 5 plates like that…I went to the hibachi…I also got a bit of fried rice…I ate desert as well. If I had to estimate…I’d say 4500cals…if not more. It was good though.
Love eating sushi the day before a brutal leg day. Can put away about 7 to 8 rolls, so approx 40 pieces, and then I just need a nap.

All you can eat sushi isn’t meant to be ‘reasonably overeating’ it’s meant to be an all out glutton fest until you can hardly move/see/breathe.
haha
