Just curious, not defending Fonda, but could she have not been tried for treason because Vietnam was a police action and never an actual declared state of war? Because, I would think that her actions would have gotten her shot during WW2.

Good point. I dunno. You’re right though. Can you see some photos of Jane coming back from Berlin in 1943 of her standing on a Nazi AA gun, hugging and smiling with Nazi thugs and her NOT being prosecuted?
However, you might ask the men who were on the ground or in the air over in 'Nam if they thought they were fighting in a “police action” or a war. They might be able to offer some perspective.
