I’ve been working odd hours lately and although I only rarely drink soda or coffee, I occassionally take a 200mg caffeine pill if I get real tired.
Everyone I’ve talked to seems to think that those caffeine pills are just terrible for you. Everyone talks about how they cause ulcers and kidney stones. Although, none of these people have any real explanation of why, and they all continue to drink mountain dew like it’s water.
Are any of these seemingly wide spread claims real? I would say it’s a bunch of crap, but why is it that caffeine pills give most people stomach aches?
“why is it that caffeine pills give most people stomach aches?”
Who are these “most people”? It doesnt give me or anybody i know stomach aches. Does it give you stomach aches? This information is coming from people who have watched too many after school specials.
Quit listening to idiots. Caffeine does not cause ulcers and I have never heard of stomach aches caused by caffeine. Of the millions of people who drink coffee as if their lives depended on it, are you really falling for the bullshit that others are feeding you?
I had Kidney stones when I was 14, thats right 14!
They hurt like a bastard…
Ayway, the kidney stones were due to me drinking too much pepsi and not enough H2O. Calcium is what causes the stones, not caffiene so as long as you stay good and hydrated (which I do religiously) you won’t have to worry.
The guys who should worry are you Mt. Dew drinking co-workers.
I have experienced stomach discomfort from caffeine pills (and from a large cup of coffee), but only if I haven’t eaten. If you’re worried, have a snack and a glass of water. If you don’t have any pre-existing stomach issues, caffeine is not harmful.

You have no way of knowing if this is true or not. No one is sure as to what causes kidney stones. My cousin had them when he was really young. It sure as hell wasnt from drinking too much pepsi. His mom didnt let him drink colas.
Thanks for all the posts. Yeah, I figured it was all BS. I just wanted to know for sure.
Does anyone know for sure why some people get stomach aches from large doses of caffeine? Like someone stated earlier, I usually don’t notice it if I take it with food. But on an empty stomach, it’s very uncomfortable.
