You guys ever tried a café bombon? It’s a shot of expresso with condensed milk poured in popular in Spain. When it’s served it looks like an upside down pint of Guinness.
Anyway, these are the things that first got me in to coffee, but one day I drank about 8 of them in 2 hours and was totally wired. Felt queasy, twitchy, and things started to look pretty trippy on the walk home.
This is the shizznit. I love anything with condensed milk.
I’m a bit of a coffee geek so I’ll probably never go for too long without consuming caffeine. Still, I think it’s good to keep track of your consumption. I do notice phases when it becomes easier and easier to consume more caffeine than one would need. This is mostly in the winter; in the summer, I often only drink coffee first thing in the morning prior to training.
I think caffeine is like most things that are inherently harmless but can cause some kind of addiction in that you need to monitor yourself and your behaviour. I don’t like the feeling of “needing” an afternoon coffee, so when I do notice this, I try to back down for a while.

Yeah it’s delicious. The condensed milk they have over there is really thick too, much thicker than the stuff in the UK which is quite runny like milk. This stuff you squeeze out of a tube.
I just try to limit coffees outside of breakfast, after lunch, and pre-workout. Sometimes if I’m feeling really trashed or have a lot of work on I’ll have one mid-morning but like you say, as soon as I start to feel like it’s part of a routine I cut back.
A bit of a thread revival- The quick Google search was information overload, so I threw the subject out there to a smaller, more specific group.
I ended up cutting consumption way back from almost 2 pots of coffee (way over the top) to 4 cups throughout the day. A couple of capsules(200mg) of theanine helps to stay perky without getting over stimulated.
I’m a caffeine addict, around 600mg a day, sometimes more. Magnesium/potassium and a few other minerals apparently get depleted with chronic caffeine use, so I take a little extra mag/pot every night. It definitely helps me wind down, and I feel somewhat “reset” the next morning. Keeps that wired feeling in check.
