I think that my point is that the discourse surrounding this presidential election is very disturbing. The loudmouths on both sides are making all the noise are (thought to be) representative of the majority of people on each side of the aisle.
I do not believe that there are people in any branch of the gov’t. that represent my point of view. At this point, I am drained and very tired of listening to extreme viewpoints that selectively target the other side. For me, I hate hypocrites regardless of party.
The President giving campaign speeches and appearing in public is a “private event”?
They handcuffed some ladies for wearing t-shirts they didn’t like, good move! Thank God these brave men are protecting us from these dangerous t-shirt wearing maniacs.
Also, I have to laugh that Repugnicans think that the phrase Protect Our Civil Liberties is offensive.
Lumpy, I’m not clear on the exact details of this event, but if tickets were required, that sounds like a private event to me. Also keep in mind that it may be likely that those teacher’s comments were purposely made to sound innocent, so they look like the good guys. That is an obvious tactic in playing political games with your rivals. Of course the media being mainly liberals, will play that up. If you honestly believe that those teachers were there to “suppport their president” as quoted, I have a great deal on some Soy Protein for you
Okay guys (BB + Veg), fair enough. Still sucks though that a sitting president’s handlers would imagine someone wearing “Protect Our Civil Liberties” might be trouble, while they would probably not have an issue with someone wearing “Swift Boat Veterans Rock the Hizz-ouse!!” I understand the whole “it’s the president’s party, so don’t steal his thunder” concept, and I guess that explains it innocently enough. You gotta admit though, this makes the Bush campaign look bad in a way. Look how easy it is to think that the Bush campaign is now against protecting our civil liberties…
Any American would want to go see the President speak if he was appearing in your town, whether you planned to vote for him or not.
Except George Bush only wants True Believers at his campaign appearances. Apparently he’s only the president of the people who vote for him, and not the president of all Americans.
