Guess i will add in some neutral grip pull ups to the back day routine. Been on the fence on it… but after getting a wild hair this evening i discovered in my detrained walrus condition that i could still do a few.
@T3hPwnisher regarding a certain thread. That is exactly why i try not to give advice and play dumb 90% of the time. But with your current tittle" you be fucked."
Ok @T3hPwnisher after reading a certain thread again . I WAS WRONG the Op was 100% trying to educate you. Matter of fact in retrospect he did it to me after i looked over it again. Love being educated by a guy who cant get to a squat number 1 RM that ive benched for reps in the past. Awh the joys of the internet.
Odd that he mentioned only 1 powerlifter ( who i never heard of) from what i recalled But mentioned 3 ifbb pros… no Ed Coan… Dan Green John Haack along with a bunch of others Nor any well known Strongmen..But he wants to talk about strength development when its not IMO
subconsciously is not his true concern.
I did bite my tongue regarding stronglift …if you recall my past view point on it.
After commenting earlier on here that i wasn’t… part of my brain said " the fuck you say!?"
Warmed up with 2 sets of reverse hypers.
Ssbar squats: 3x8 working sets… i had to actually put in some effort on the last set.
Lever squats: close stance , low as it would go . Hammies resting on the calves. 3 x 10
Ok i got a wild hair… maybe i wasnt feeling it or was me being lazy. I had planned on doing some reverse lunges using the lever squat. Instead i untilized the reverse hyper and did leg extensions for a shit ton of reps for 3 sets to scorch the quads.
I have not done extensions since i was young.
Reverse hypers: 3 x15… getting the proper technique down.
After listening to a pod cast with Andy Baker. Apparently i have miss judged " Rip" regarding the back squat. Apparently hes not full cookie cutter with regards to technique regarding the squat. Apparently changes in stance and bar placement is advisable to maintaining the bar path in line with the center of gravity and mid foot.. when called for.
Seems the cookie cutter approach has been a myth fed by inexperienced lifters and Starting Strength coaches online.
Well i guess a old dog can still learn a thing or too. Im just glad thats cleared up because it always baffled me why one would be so dogmatic considering indvidual leverage differences .
Still dropping weight like a prom queens panties on prom night.
Leaning out and regaining size . Case in point arms already up 3/4 inch cold since i started.
Strength moving up and a respectable clip.
But things are starting to out pace my recovery… which being in a deficit ,calorie wise isnt helping. Probably need to auto regulate my assesory lifts more. Since im enjoying how i have things set up.Until im out of this lean out phase.
I enjoy listening to POD cast regarding training. Honestly im not getting anything ground breaking from them . BUT…it does fill the roll of confirmation for me. When someone more established* concepts and ideas regarding this stuff that runs in line with my own philosophy that has evolved over time .( mind you im aware of possible danger of confirmation bias)
when i mean established… im talking about guys that actually have a good track record of being coaches with years under their belt. Not fitness influencers who are exclusively drawing from their own individual results.
Bench: 3 working sets x 5…was a little worried. Had to do allot of warm up sets . Things were really tight and right shoulder was cranky.
I have changed my warm up procedure, trying to minimize wasted effort Example today ..
2 x 10 bar
95 x 5
135 x 3
After which moved up using singles about 10% jumps to my working weight.
Incline Bench : 3 x 8 … im using my 2nd movement as a supplemental movement. On these i pretty much just roll into these. Just one light set to establish my groove.
I intentionally capped my reps at 8 . Toward the end of the sets just to make it harder i started doing long pauses.
Flat Db press: 3 sets 32 total reps. More hypertrophy focus.
Axel curls: 3 working sets x 8
Rope curls: 2 x 20… was suppose to be a single arm preacher curl. Left elbow felt weird so i retreated and switched up the exercise.
A certain thread regarding a idvidual whom is very up set who keeps failing with 400 on the squat now for the past 3 years ( probably bullshit) Was thinking about the whole deal … and it struck me out of the blue of the existence of a old video i had made many moons ago which i had forgotten about.
Since i have decided not to engage anymore on the thread. I was tempted to post the video but again its a moot point since im sticking to my guns. Along with it being immature for a man of my age to do so… for what its worth here it is.
