some people think aftermarket ccoolers are overkill, some think they are good insurance.
They have done a good job lately of matching fans that work well with the chips.
if you can aford it I would get a CPU hsf and a GPU hsf.
you certinaly could get away with using the stock stuff though.
If using the stock stuff I like to strip off tha tgrey goop on the heat sink and replace it with Arctic Silver.
also pulling the heat sink off the gpu cleaning it with rubbing alcohol and putting some arctic silver on there is a good idea as well.

Yeah, sites like ibuypower are probably the second best option if you don’t want to build your own.
Unless you’re rich of course.[/quote]
They are actually NOT that much more expensive than building it yourself. I think AnandTech priced them out to be like $150 just for service with almost all parts within 10% of the best prices they could find online.
Not bad if you want to avoid the hassle.
Austin…get a watercooling kit, bro.
Cool thread! I just built this gaming system at the end of Feb with my income tax check. Been building systems for 15 years and never built myself a good one. Yeah I did go with Dual GeForce 8800 GT’s SLI. Did I waste my money on the second card? Probably but none of my friends had done it so I figured, wtf, lets do it. I though about going with 3 just because I could, like why does a dog lick it’s nuts, but the rate of diminishing returns get worse with 3 in SLI mode.
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600
P5EGREEN GA775 INTEL CORE2 EXTREME/QUAD/DUO
Kingston memory - 4 GB
EVGA e-GeForce 8800 GT (2 SLI)
True Power Quattro 1000W PSU
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 - 250 GB - Data Drive
Raptor 10000 - 40GB (2) Raid 0 for Operating system and program files)
Razor Diamond Back Mouse
ACER AL2216 Widescreen 1680x1050 60Hrtz (This wasn’t new it was on my old system)
Vista Ultimate 64 bit
Now I have no excuse why i suck at COD4…lol

Nice rig. And 60hz on that panel is why you suck at cod4.
