Buck Wheat

Good call, I used to eat tons of buck wheat. Time to grab some.

I thought buck wheat was dead? I guess you can’t believe everything you see on SNL.

I used to get Buckwheat pancakes from the Ihop. The last time I ordered them they told me they no longer serve them :frowning:

Thom, interesting study on buckwheat. I’m going to have to see if there are any cheap sources around here…

I don’t think I’ve ever had it in anything but pancakes though.

Remember that? LOL

BUH WEET has been assassinated!! Eddie Murphy goin way back. That was funny.

I occasionally cook with this but I just came across instant buckwheat as an alternative to instant oats (instant = fine powder you can add to shakes to ‘up’ the carb content). Does anyone have any experience using it?

Ive been using it about a week as a gluten free alternative, i think its quite good, no bloat and no crash from like i sometimes got from dextrose

I just saw the stuff yesterday and it is an interesting gluten free alternative carb source for shakes. Nice to know you havent got any stomach upset from it.

Is it a fine powder like flour or is it a little coarser like instant oats?

The reason I ask is to do with mixability i.e. do you need a blender or can you just scoop it in and shake away?

If it is a fine powder like flour I could just use the organic buckwheat flour I have at home but I was thinking it would turn into a gloopy mess. I suppose I could just try it and see but I’m a lazy bastard…

Cheers mate

Its a fairly fine powder, but i assume it will differ between brand to a degree, nah its fine just to stick in a shaker i put 100 grams with 600ml of water fine but it will settle if you leave it. How much is the buckwheat flour you have per kilo?
