What? I think you mean 1985.

There are 23 year olds really into Pokemon?
It’s more likely than you think.

I was really into it when I was 8-10 years old. I still remember a bunch of stuff about it.

I’ve, in all honesty, thought about buying one of the new games. I have not to date, but I remember how much fun I use to have with those games when I was younger and the endless hours I spent playing it. I haven’t even played a Pokemon game since like 2000, but I’m not sure if I can see much of a step back in the maturity department between that and Dragonball Z, which a lot of people on this site alone have a boner for. As long as you stay away from the show and all the hype, why can’t a guy just enjoy the game?

The game is actually quite fun. I watched the cartoon when I was a youngun, of course. Sadly, there are people my age and older that are still very into anything and everything pokemon. These are the same people that collected beanie babies and danced the macarena.

How do you get Pikachu on a bus?

Pokemon.

I am guilty of this, Cuban style at that, so I will stop downing Pokemon.

My son (11) was just so into that show that I can’t take it anymore. The same can be said about Dragonball Z, Beyblades and Power Rangers.

I still play the Gameboy games occasionally.

All the way up to the most recent one!

I’ve played close to 3000 hours of pokemon on my gameboy…

God I ought to get out more… Make some friends or something.

There are 23 year olds really into Pokemon?

Wow.

I wouldn’t admit that to anyone.

I admit to watching Power Rangers when they first came out because both the pink and yellow rangers were fairly decent eye candy back then (I think the yellow one was in a singing group before that gig), but I wasn’t aware that people in their mid 20’s were that into a cartoon that seemed aimed at 8 year olds.

Are you guys serious? I like cartoons just as much as the next geek, but shit truly made for little kids gets passed over.

Pokemon came to the US in 1998. I wouldn’t expect most if their fans to be over the age of 18-20 at the most now.
It really does seem to be aimed at 8 year olds, but there are card and video games too. Somehow I can’t imagine an adult using any of those venues for entertainment though.

And as for Power Rangers, good god man, were you born in the 70’s!? I hope not! My kid brother was born in 83 and he loved that show. I was already spending my free time watching bukkake at that point.

When I read the title of the thread, I thought Brock Lesnar got caught on meth… I was like “Damn, UFC heavyweight division just got suckier than ever.”

It seems it was some even weirder shit.

This could explain it all

I got no excuse. I used to watch pokemon when I was in college, 97 or 98. I admired the way they dropped any pretense of a story and went for pure marketing.

Business major?

Ha, no. Photography and Filmmaking.

Damn, I just watched several hours of Pokemon DP: Battle Dimension. Horrid crap. They should have gotten rid of the whole “pokemon contest” subplot after Advanced Battles. Only thing that made the marathon any good (other than The Rise of Darkrai) was Paul being a dick to everyone and when Ash, Dawn, Brock and the others got their pokemon to gust some Gligar out of the city and the cast was yelling “Good luck, get home safe”.

The Rise of Darkrai was a damn good movie. Can’t wait until Platinum comes out in 2nd Quarter 09. Its going to be so awesome. Especially with the near 200 hours I’ve put into diamond, I need something new.

I always thought that bad red-haired girl was hot. This confirmed my suspicion.

The yellow ranger “Trini” died in a car accident in 2001. The Pink Ranger “Kimberly” was in a porn movie.

No, I meant Aisha Campbell (real name: Karan Ashley), the second yellow ranger. She was the one who was in a singing group before that I believe.

I hate to hear that about “Trini”, but I didn’t really think she was all that cute back then.

The original rangers came out a really long time ago (like 1993-95).

Is this true or just rumor?

Just a rumor.

The pornstar “Cherry Potter” (Cherry Petite) resembled Amy Jo Johnson (Kimberly Ann Hart) a bit and used that to her advantage, and a bunch of horny teenagers swore it was the pink ranger.

For some reason, I was way more impressed with her back then.

I think the original Pink Ranger was still the best though.
