Britons as Dumb as Americans
Sifu wrote:
The British are becoming ignorant of their history because the Labour party says it is racist and discriminatory to teach British history to kids in British schools. Why? Because of all the kids who are not british who are in those schools.

The Labour party has for many years been trying to wipe out the national identity and turn the country into a Balkanized patchwork of multi-culture. Where the indiginous people are taught to be ashamed of their heritage.

Quite frankly I would have to say that Zap’s initial analysis that the British are as dumb as Americans was way too generous. Americans would never put up with the kind of nonsense that the British do.

The British supported taking out Saddam, nuff said on that one.
It isnt the labour party in particular, its the entire current political class who couldnt give a shit about britains native inhabitants. mass immigration covers the complete failure of our education system to provide native* inhabitants with the basic skills to get work. If you think the Tories or Liberal Democrats would do something differently then you are sadly mistaken.

 • no longer just native (and i use the word native loosely), this awful state education now affects the black white and asian working classes equally.

Here is another good one.

Teaching British values in schools would fuel racism, it has been claimed.

The new president of the National Union of Teachers, Baljeet Ghale, said plans to put Britishness on the curriculum risked encouraging the "shadow of racism

what are british values? i am not saying the british dont have a cultural identity, but i would be hard placed to put them down on paper for children to learn.

The mass immigration is only one side of the problem. The other side is the mass emgration. The last time I was in Miami I was struck by how many Brits have settled there. I met more Brits than Cubans.

If you look at what is happening in Britain is the middle class who have college degrees are emigrating and they are being replaced in the labor market by immigrants.

The situation there is a lot like what happened to the American Indians. Foreigners came in and became the upperclass while the Indians became an underclass on reservations, who were seen as drunken, derelicts by the new immigrant upperclass.

In Britain the indiginous English are being reduced to an uneducated underclass living on council estates, who are seen as drunken derelicts, by the new upperclass of immigrants.

ON SIFU’S STUFF:
Sifu, these articles are horrendous. It’s such a shame, when religion meshes with politics. British education needs to get it’s balls back. Fuck “offending” people, you teach the best theories known at the time, period.

Skipping the Holocaust is fluking INSULTING. Don’t they think that might, I don’t know, offend the British JEWS!

As a(n) [ethnic] Jew, that fact that any school would skip the holocaust in a world history class deeply offends me. As a man who believes in education and the great field of history, I am offended to a much, much higher degree.

IN GENERAL:
Most people are ignorant. That’s just the way things are. It has more to do with a lack of motivation to learn than horrible teaching (especially with such base knowledge as this).

I think that probably the most quintisential of all British values is a sense of fair play. From this a lot of other values have derived.

The founding fathers of the United States were British who felt they weren’t being treated fairly and that sense of fair play was very much embodied in the constitution.

I think the British desire to want to be seen as being fair with people has gone overboard and the British have forgotten to be fair to themselves.

From Lixy’s Snopes page:

Multiple:

* All schools in the UK have stopped teaching about the Holocaust in their history classes: False.

* One history department in a northern UK city stopped teaching about the Holocaust because it wished to avoid confronting anti-Semitic sentiment and Holocaust denial among some Muslim pupils: True.

Keep reading down the page.

Let’s see - doctrinaire ideology, complete ignorance of history, awful presentation of logic - yep, I think Lixy went to school in England.

Yup. The Conservative Party has no more interest in British educational standards than Labour, and, indeed, just decided to gut grammar schools (U.S. equivalent - maybe magnet schools, like they have in California, or like those excellent public schools in NYC you have to take an exam to get into - basically selective public schools).

I’m probably biased, because I haven’t been home for real long stretches of time since 2004, and I work as a bouncer on the weekends and see the worst side of people, but, at the risk of offending Britons, the social problems over here are sometimes unbelievable. Not trying to sound like the ugly American, but that’s just the way it looks to me.

There was another part to that article about the holocaust that was even more important for Britains. The dropping the crusades from the cirriculum.

One of the biggest problems the British have is looking at events like the crusades and thiking that because they were hundreds of years ago they are ancient history. While that might be true for the Brtish it isn’t neccessarily so for the muslims.

This is where the British have been dumb they assume tat all the muslims flooding into the counry don’t hold a grudge over the crusades They assume that because many of them no longer attend church and don’t consider themselves Christian that gets them off the hook for the crusades.

I didn’t hear about that one. That sucks!

Where exactly are you located? I have a feeling that a British dude working as a bouncer is some American neighborhoods would be just as horrified, if not more.

Let’s stop the madness. Yes, socially the UK is a mess. But it is not exactly news. It’s been that way for a long time now and the Brits don’t seem to be willing to do anything about it. Can we drop it now?

Now how about we go back to the French Press Agency misrepresenting the “study” and how Zap was all too happy to gloat that Americans are just as dumb?

But the Americans aren’t as dumb as the British. Zap was wrong.

The reason why the British aren’t doing anything about it is because the labour party has gone to extreme lengths to hang onto power. Americans would never tolerate British style gerrymandering.

From a population of sixty million people Britain has over eight million people on welfare. This has made a significant portion of the populace dependent upon the government. The labour party has made them their bitch and keeps them that way by bringing in ever more immigrants even though they already have millions of unemployed.

A survey conducted in 1999 in Britain discovered that the great majority of Englishmen would rather watch football on television than make love to the girl of their dreams.

Now that’s dumb.

That’s nothing Varq. Remember a few years ago when protesters were so incensed that they took to the streets in droves and broke into the house of Parliament and fought the men in tights? Do you remember what got them so worked up and upset? Fox hunting. To the people of Britain the most significant issue of the day was stopping fox hunting.

Do you know what other debate was going on in parliament at the same time, the one that didn’t get any protesters? Identity cards. By identity card I don’t mean your fathers ID card with name address and picture. These are going to be a new high tech device with state of the art embedded radio technology.

Think about that. The government is going to order the people to carry around with them whereever they go, a state of the art radio transmission device, whose purpose is to track them and keep tabs on them. But the British don’t care!?!?! That wasn’t important.

Instead the issue that really captured their imaginations and got them fired up to take to the streets to do battle with the government was furry woodland animals.

That is how stupid, idiotic, retarded, dumber than dirt, just waiting to be manipulated by the government the British are.
Sifu wrote:

Don’t be silly! There were plenty of protests about those cards. Heck, I met a British dude who told that he considered the issue when he took the decision to move to Sweden.

Saying that Brits are oblivious to radio-enabled ID cards is ridiculous. It is very important. But you can understand that with the London bombings, the movement lost some of its momentum.

And in the case it does happen (which I don’t see happening in the near future), expect tin foil sales to go way up.

sorry sifu that is bollocks. about 400,000 marched against foxhunting (see below). in comparison around 1 million people marched against the war in iraq

the reason foxhunting is so emotive is because the only reason it was banned was to appease ‘old’ labour back benchers who were getting vocal about the ‘new’ labour party following the neocon agenda to a T. it was good old fashioned class hatred rather than animal wellfare to most people. im not defending foz hunting by the way, just offering some perspective.

i completely agree with you on ID cards though. the reason there is so little protest is the actual use of them is so secretive. most people think that they are similar to a driving license or small passport. there is also the whole ‘you have nothing to fear if you dont have anything to hide’ line that the government trots out alongside ‘helping the fight against terrorism/crime/immigration’ bollocks. there is some real organised grassroots resistance - check www.no2id.net

I believe Sifu’s reference was about the people who opposed the ban on foxhunting. They’re the ones who broke into the House of Commons (not the same as Parliament, Sifu).

The Iraq issue predated the fox hunting ban. The ID cards and Fox hunting ban were debated in parliament at the same time. The fox hunting ban was a bone thrown to the people to give them something to get riled up about while they slipped ID cards in under the radar.

A real difference between America and Britain is the ‘you have nothing to fear if you dont have anything to hide’ line was one of the triggers of the revolutionary war.

The thing that gets me is the lack of imagination that the British are showing. Can’t they understand that miniaturization of electronics has not reached it’s limit.

Twenty years ago motorola’s smallest cell phone was called the brick, because that’s how big it was and all it could do is make phone calls. Now they have the Razor which is the size of a dozen id cards stacked together and it has a video camera built in. Remember how big video camera’s were twenty years ago?

Down the road those cards could be made to transmit GPS, audio, thermal imageing. They could be quite the data collection device that you have to take it with you whereever you go.

Thank you for the input Lixy. I was under the impression that the house of commons and the house of lords were parliament. Sort of like the way the house of representatives and senate are the congress.
