Boxer Tracks Down Twitter Tough Guy

It really is. Our motto is “The Friendship State,” actually. And I’ve been to 35 of the 50 states of the union, and I have yet to find a state with more hospitable, generous, polite, neighborly, genuinely friendly people than those I’ve had the pleasure of living among in Texas. That’s not a bragging point, it’s a real world observation. Biased, maybe, but unblinkered and I do believe accurate.

Big this big that. Sounds like they really feel the need to compensate for something. Is it also famous for very small penises?

That was a good one dude. Did you come up with that one, yourself?

I found this story very refreshing and I hope it will discourage other trolls from hiding behind their computer screens saying things they wouldn’t say to the persons face. I speak to people on the Internet exactly the same as I speak to people IRL, there are some very sad individuals out there

Shit, I figured he was just trying to prove my point for me.

I’d take Christie (from what little I know of him) over Perry. But we’re still an awesome state. Lots of wide open spaces, cool wildlife, great parks, friendly people…I like it here.

This could happen in Texas too; the boxer never even attempted to knock on a door, he just showed up in the guys street and made his point. Never threatened violence as far as a quick read shows. He yanked back the curtain of anonymity and that was enough. HAD he busted into a house, then the person would have been justified shooting him; I’d shoot a professional fighter rater than tangle with them too (but I’m not a big enough dick to send tweets like that either!).

Im from Australia so pardon my ignorance. What’s wrong with Texas? I see numerous Texas comments across the internet and I’m just not relating to them. If someone could post a quick one sentence reply as to informing me the joke behind these Texas comments it would end my torment and prolonged suffering. thanks in adavance[/quote]

To address your question: Texas has some of the most lax gun laws in the nation.
Lethal force is authorized to prevent imminent loss of life or property. In other words, if you try to steal my car, I can shoot you.

The biggest drawback from living in Texas is that state pride is taken to an annoying level.
If I recall, state history is a required course in public schools.

Otherwise, the state is awesome. Sunshine. 0% State income tax. Great people - though I didn’t care for Dallas.
If it wasn’t for family, I’d move back in a heartbeat.

The state has it’s faults like every other state, but they tend to be fewer than most places.

Heheh. We certainly don’t consider this a drawback. I have two large flags in my office at my business (in Japan). One is a US flag, the other a Texas one. Guess which one hangs right over my desk?

Most of us would secede from the Union without a second thought, if given the chance.

Speak for yourself on that one Cortes.

The secession, or the State pride ?

I grew up on the Left Coast and live there now, but I also lived in Dallas for about 20 years–most of my adult life. I can say without hesitation that Texas is a great state with great people and that I absolutely love Dallas. But I can also say that Texas stereotypes didn’t just get pulled out of thin air. It was real culture shock when I first moved there.

Care to explain a bit? I’m curious what you found shocking.

I take groups of Japanese kids to the DFW area year after year and, to a man, their minds are just absolutely blown. By everything.

To be fair, their minds would probably be fairly blown anywhere else in the US, too, but the contrast of Texas and Japan is just too much. Ford F-250’s and -350’s filling the streets, the size of those streets, sky, houses, yards, and people’s hospitality, friendliness and loquaciousness are all SO different than anything they’ve ever experienced here.

I guess I’ve really knocked this thread way off its tracks. Sorry OP.

No way. There’s no way I could come up with comedy gold like that post after post. I have a team of comedy script writers working for me. This isn’t even me typing its my PA.

You don’t happen to employ the same team Saturday Night Live does, do you? Just askin.

Texas is definitely the coolest state I have spent much time in. Great people everywhere and really really great food. As long as there are cowboys Texas will be awesome.

im moving back to Harlingen, TX. on the 2nd of next months. I like to think of it as the hot steamy asshole of Texas because of the humidity and proximity to mexico. Texas is great though, im moving back for that reason.
