BTW for people who don’t have or don’t like Quicktime, and many people don’t approve of it, there is something called Quicktime alternive you can find if you search Google. Usually comes with ‘Media Player Classic’ which plays just about anything including DVD’s.
Agreed. Quicktime along with Realplayer dont get my approval. Try searching for K-Lite codec pack which includes Media Player Classic and just about every codec you’ll ever need. Its also possible to get Winamp and Windows Media Player to play these files.
The main progs to avoid, general concensus amongst software experts are anything from AOL, Realplayer, Norton Antivirus (probably THE worst software ever), Certain Google products like Toolbar - the ultimate spyware, Quicktime - lots of reasons NOT to use this, Adobe Acrobat - I don’t know why its bad, but its badly programmed and takes up resources, I use Fox Viewer its a tenth of the operational size.
Couldnt agree more. Actually I use Acrobat still cos I had a few problems with Foxit but Adobe are generally OK.
I wish everyone would just boycott real and qt files til they die. And lets face it AOL is for dummys!![/quote]
I’m hijacking my own thread but in my mind Windows XP is solid. People love ot trash it. It only goes wrong, becomes unstable when it gets agitated by crap like Norton and bad maintenance. If you set it up right, keep the registry solid its probably as stable as anything. MAC’s might be pretty much super stable, but they can’t do stuff a decent PC can.
I had an XP install that ran for 2 years, never restarted, automatic updates off ! It never froze, had the bsod, and I only powered it down because I moved.
Putting some of this software on your pc is like eating junk food, in the end it comes back to haunt you.
