Is the energy I metabolize directly linked with my heart-rate? I got a device which measure my heart-rate, and it also gives a number for how many calories I have spent. Is this accurate? Or are there other factors involved? Also, I notice that after HIIT, my resting heart-rate is elevated. Normally, its about 50, but one or two hours after HIIT its often 70 or even more. Is this the so-called “afterburn”-effect of HIIT?
