Best Movies You've Never Seen

Brick (2006) - Another movie starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt that I liked a lot. JG-L’s character gets a desperate call from his ex and then gets involved in investigating what happened to her. It’s really a throw back to older, film noir movies.

Another Joseph Gordon-Levitt movie that’s well worth watching is Mysterious Skin. Very different from Brick, but just as good. Not an easy movie to describe, but you could call it a ‘coming of age drama with a twist’. The guy sure knows how to pick his roles. Hope he keeps it up with G.I. Joe…

I actually watched that on Molotov_Coktease’s recommendation. I didn’t list it because I figured that a lot of people wouldn’t be into it since it’s kind of ‘out there’ and there’s some pretty uncomfortable subject matter in it.

Like you said, it’s a very difficult movie to describe. Still a good movie though. I appreciate it more now that I’ve more time to think about it.

Lord of War- I don’t know how peeps haven’t seen this, but Cage is an arms dealer and thats pretty much all the movie is about. very solid and entertaining. o and dont worry, cage doesnt have the bird on his head for this one (if u dont know wut im talking about see NeeleyDan’s avatar on pg 1 of this thread).[/quote]

One of my favorites.

I’m not a movie buff by any means, so thanks everyone for the suggestions in this thread.

It’s no Disney movie, that’s for sure. And quite heavy going for people that like plots to end with a neat resolution and tied up with a pink ribbon (not one for the ‘popcorn crowd’). I must admit that I squirmed during a few scenes. But it’s the mark of a good movie when it takes you out of your comfort zone. And this one certainly does that…

A lot of the impact of the movie comes from the fact that it is mostly set against the emergence of Aids in the 1980s. Gordon-Levitt’s character doesn’t have the benefit of hindsight, so isn’t aware of the full consequences of his actions - but the viewer is (especially in that scene with Billy Drago.). And the less said about ‘coach’ , the better…

Good version of “both sides now” by joni mitchell in the soundtrack. I enjoyed the film too.

I am SO with you on that. Worst movie EVER. Wanted to die. So bad, so very very bad.

That movie is still in my queue. I’m genuinely afraid to watch it now.

I can’t begin to describe how bad. My wife, who is a huge fan, hated it as well. I remember 1.5 hrs into it I looked at my watch and though, “CRIPES, 1hr 40 mins of this shite to go”

I’ve had 5 hr business meetings that were more fun, where some idiot just drones on

Worst movie ever, and not in a cool “bad movie” way.

Yes! Hilarious movie.

I’ve gotta recommend Children of Men (2006). It’s just incredible, especially the cinematography/camera work. The 10 minute straight battle scene with no cuts is immense. The way they did the car scene was pretty ingenious too.

Things To Do In Denver When You’re Dead.

The Cube.

Suicide Kings.

Bande a Parte (Band of Outsiders) by Goudard.

The Lives of Others (German)

Bottle Rocket- Wes Anderson

8 1/2- Federeco Fellini, pretty trippy.

Trainspotting- same director as Slumdog Millionaire.

Ed Wood- Tim Burton. Ed Wood and Fear and Loathing make me love Johnny Depp

Sweet Sweetback’s Baasassssss Song- After saving a Black Panther from some racist cops, a black prostitute goes on the run from “the man” with the help of the ghetto community and some disillusioned Hells Angels. Most people will hate this movie, some will love it.

Me and You and Everyone We Know- Once again, some will love this movie, and some will not. More people will like this movie then Sweetback’s Badass Song.

Reprise- Best Norwegian movie you will ever see.

Control

Tell No One

These may not be T-movies, but if you enjoy watching a good film, then these are worth the view.

Excellent choice!

Best movie ever…

Definitely not a “best movie ever” but has anyone else seen Cannibal Holocaust?

Visitor Q

Stir of Echoes - Kevin bacon in a good thriller…

Dedication - Film about a graphic novel writer who has ridiculous OCD. Sad, funny and romantic

RoknRolla - Better than snatch

Man about a Dog - Northern Irish film about greyhounds. One of the funniest films ive ever seen. http://www.tiscali.co.uk/entertainment/film/reviews/man_about_dog.html

If you can find it anywhere. WATCH IT.

City of God (Cidade de Deus) if your looking for an awesome movie in general
