Dude, there was this place called craft burger right by the Ridgedale mall in Minnetonka. They only used grass fed beef from one farm on the St.Croix river. They were fucking awesome (satisfying and filling without too heavy of a feeling and not too greasy), 20 tap beers and gourmet burgers…but they recently shut down. they had a 4.5/5 rating on yelp, very unfortunate.
If I am going to the MOA (mall of america) I need a good reason. I may have to check out the Richfield location of burger burger. I’m in Plymouth btw.
I’ve been to almost every place listed so far in this thread and my top is still a Five Guys double with All The Way toppings. Shake Shack is a close second.
I agree that In N Out is overrated. It was a great burger, but I think they get a big lift in perception from their cultish following and regional exclusivity.
Whataburger, with Culver’s being a close second. Tried In N Out a few times and was not impressed at all. There is no greater fast food than a Whataburger Breakfast on a Bun.
Fuddruckers rocks, though I wouldn’t call it fast food exactly. I haven’t had it since I lived in Texas, but we loved it enough that one of my kids chose it as a birthday dinner one year after we’d moved and we all loaded up and drove an hour and a half to the nearest one - which was closed pending a location change. We never went back. The burgers there are good, but what I’m really after when I go is the melty cheese, which I slather all over everything.
Whataburger - never got the appeal, and didn’t bother after the first couple of times. Hardees had a mushroom and swiss burger I was crazy about when I lived near one (Richmond, VA).
I had it for the first time in February at an airport, and it was good. I actually had something of a temper tantrum because…well, because I’m an asshole, but also because my husband somehow managed to get a double bacon cheeseburger for us to share with no lettuce, tomato, and pickles. I don’t love bacon but I DO love the LT&P and…I don’t know, I just sort of quietly melted down over it. I may even have called them “vegetables” in a warped bid for the high ground.
Five Guys gets my vote for overall best in my area currently. Burgers are tasty, fries are excellent, and they’re generous with the fixings. I’d choose it over the next level of chain, e.g. Applebee’s or TGIF.
Spangles here in the midwest is pretty good, as well, especially some of their limited-time specialty burgers. A few years ago they had a peanut butter and jelly jalapeno bacon cheeseburger that was amazing! It sounded weird so I had to try it, and I was frankly totally blown away by how good it was. I was bummed when they discontinued that one.
I thought the meat was funky, though I’ll happily eat a McD’s burger. I also didn’t like that the lettuce was all chopped up and fell out of my burger, because vegetables are important, lol. I haven’t tried any of their fancy burgers - it’s been a long time since I lived near one.
was starving tonight and had nothing else open except Wendys. I haven’t had Wendys in maybe 10 years and decided to do a Daves double.
It was a soggy mess, but because I was hungry it served its purpose. Next time I know to ask them to hold the ketchup/mustard/mayo that they freely splash all over the thing.
Have not tried Wahlburgers from the restaurant but they sell the burger here in the store. I don’t know what kind of crack they put in it but their burger is fantastic.
