I watch horror movies because they’re like comedies to me - bad acting, pointless jump scare scenes, absurd plots etc. But my wife loves them. I watch them because I don’t like watching most mainstream comedies because I don’t find them funny, if that makes any sense lol.

What I consider real horror would be stuff like Dawn of The Dead(the original), The Conjuring, The Exorcist, The Evil Dead 1 etc.

And FWIW I laughed throughout the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. The part where The Cook hits the chick with the broom makes my top 10 list of funniest movie scenes.

On the topic of ghosts, I don’t believe in them and I used to live in one of the most superstitious places in the world and one of my grandmother’s good friends was a Chinese medium. But it seems like EVERYONE I know has seen them, and half the time a purported supernatural encounter occurred, I WAS PRESENT. I’ve even participated in a couple of exorcisms conducted by people from different religions lol.

BUT I would really like to see one. This isn’t skepticism nor mockery. Seriously. I’d probably have more peace of mind with regards to the afterlife.

I believe a lot of it is definitely faked for show or profit depending on who are the interested parties.

While I believe in angels I hate the phrase ā€œoh, there an angel nowā€ after someone dies (usually said be supposed Christians). That’s not how it works. I want to tell those folks to actually read the Bible. Angels are quite literally God’s army. They are large and terrifying as evidenced by the reaction of humans every time one appears in the Biblical canon. There is nothing that states we turn into angels when we die.

I think I would be more terrified to face an angel than a demon.

Lagertha being my shield maiden would be my definition of Valhalla. Although I’m sure you’ll do a fine job for Edgy.

It’s not just that. I’ve been in several situations where everyone(friends and even family members) around me swore they saw a ghost or felt a ā€œpresenceā€ but I never felt nor saw shit lol. I always get the same explanation. If you’re not afraid of ghosts, they won’t dare to disturb you, which makes no sense since that would nullify the reason to be afraid of them in the first place lol.

Going by the Bible, aren’t the demons former angels?

Platonic relationships do not exist.
One or both are always thinking about the other naked. On this front monogamy as a prerequisite to a relationship is asocial construct and a bad thing.
I’ll expand on this - as I’m not a swinger. However - there have been times my wife and I have not had the same drive. I’m bipolar - so every now and again 3 times a day seem like a great idea. However even when its not at this extreme people will have periods where their drive is not aligned with their partners. Why not go else where. I truly believe that because we have normalise monogamy and told people to be jealous of each other we have created a problem that did not exist.
If you want to monogamous - great. But why judge others that do not?

If its okay to love someone for being smart a trait determined by genetics - then its fine to love someone due to their appearance. Also derived from genetics.

Being smarter should not mean you get more money. People of below average intellect often work much harder than their peers for less reward. I’m the engineer / manager on my site. So today when it was raining I went inside. The lads that where working - had to suffer the rain. At 08:30 in the morning. Which means working all day in wet clothes. Hardly fair.

No where in the world is hard work the best way to become wealthy. The best way to become wealthy, is to have wealthy parents.

Oil companies have sufficient technology to replace fossil fuels within 5 years. But wont implement it. Why kill the goose that lays the golden eggs?

Ai will take over the world. So be nice to Siri / Alexa / Google.

Aliens ā€œmightā€ have visited earth. But we would have no F&Ā£king clue about it. Dudes fly 24,800,000,000,000 miles at FTL speeds. But crash. Sorry no.

Not necessarily. The fallen angels theory is more a church tradition than one of biblical canon.
https://blog.logos.com/2015/10/where-do-demons-come-from/
This guy thinks they are dead nephilim from the flood. The origin story is a bit lacking. When Jesus casts out demons in the New Testament sometimes they seem more like evil ā€œghostsā€ than anything.

Either way, if you were to believe God is all powerful would you rather face something that has his backing (angel) or something backed by Lucifer who is inherently lesser than God?

You should look into what the Mormons think (or at least used to think, some of the more unsavory stuff has been edited out over time).

Depends. If I believed, and it was a fight type situation, I guess probably the demon. Most angels didn’t fight people though, and were usually messengers in Bible stories. In that case I’ll take Angel.

Does thinking about the banging and not actually banging make it non platonic?

I don’t think me and my wife have ever had the same drive.

There is nothing wrong with polyamory IMO as long as all parties agree. I think the judgement is often a form of jealousy.

Agree here. Most people are also much more shallow then they would like to admit. IMO it all comes down to attraction. Looks might not drive that attraction, it might be success, intelligence…

On average being smarter gets you more money in capitalism. Like it or not, it is how it works.

Of course.

Me too. The production workers work way harder than I do, and make a lot less money, and would get fired for being on T-nation during work.

Strongly disagree

Agreed. But most of the rules we live our lives by are social constructs. Justice is a manmade construct, so is fairness. It doesn’t make them intrinsically bad.

I halfway agree with you on the monogamy thing in that I don’t see why it should always be a requisite in a relationship if both parties are happy for it not to be.

I’ve thought this for years. In fact, I’d argue that appearance is far less genetically determined than smarts.

People are paid (in general), because of the value they bring, not how hard they work. It’s not nice, and it’s not fair but, as mentioned above, I believe fairness and niceness are human constructs not a reality.

A demon being an angel that chose to follow Satan over God, from a biblical standpoint (Other religions and texts may teach something different), it would really be about the same deal.

And, as I previously noted here, got his ass kicked in a a fiddle playing contest with a random hillbilly in Georgia.

He probably should have been disqualified for playing the electric guitar in a fiddle contest.
