He’s a troll. I read that a common link with mass shooters is that they are fatherless. I guess they have masculinity issues but no men in their lives to guide them into manhood. So this guy chooses marine for his screen name because it sounds manly but he was never a Marine because he would have known you capitalize Marine. He’s a fatherless phony who needs validation from us real men. He wants the attention he never got from daddy.

I wouldn’t doubt it … I just don’t dismiss people that easily … his posts scream unwilling to learn and consider the other side and disingenuous but I’ve seen plenty of quality posters around here start out that way
I’ve read the same thing … the issue with mass shooters is, regardless of how ubiquitous they seem now a days, they’re still an extreme rare occurrence and whatever connection they all may share, millions of similar people share those same traits in some ratio that don’t, won’t, commit the same act …

This. It’s our first troll in a while. He went after Mufasa and Z a bit ago and I called him on it and he’s been dropping grade school on us since. Ah well we had a pretty good troll free run lately.
Honestly it’s probably my fault. I was saying how balanced I thought the board was but wished we had some more people posting.

This is why we need to take mass shooters alive when possible. Understanding what makes them tick is the number one preventative measure.
Not much different than the serial killer study the FBI did in the '70’s. I know it’s not as satisfying as wanting the ‘son of a bitch to die’, but it’s way more useful.
External measures taken with out knowledge is like playing darts blind folded.
And I do believe some people shouldn’t be near a gun. But figuring out who that is, is a bit trickier than it seems. The mass collector may less likely be your problem than your twitchy first time buyer.
I certainly don’t have the answers but the article is well done. I think people being nicer to each other in general is a good start.

Possibly … that’s assuming the information you get is reliable and honest … also keep in mind regardless of how common these people seem, they’re not. These are still extremely rare occurrences … and correlations pulled from these people, when applied to the population at large, won’t apply. At the very least, programs designed to help troubled kids could be developed, but it’d be troublesome to think we could predict these events…

The advent of social media and the off shoots; Twitter, IG, Snapchat, etc… have turned too many young people into monsters. Socially awkward, severely depressed, lonely, no gf/bf, lack of sex, etc… no wonder these kids snap.

I’d didn’t say it would be easy. And there are no magic solutions to the problem. But you have to be psychological fucked up to do what they do. Triggers don’t pull themselves… So going after the the psychological phenomenon the primary focus of study.
