I assume you follow their recommendations then? How is the 55% carbs, 30% fat, 15% protein diet working out for you.

No, I don’t follow that stupid recommendation. What part of "a little heart disease and stroke are not going to bother tough T men like us don’t you understand?

Sorry man. I thought you were being sarcastic and saying we ignore facts. My apologies.

“Writing in the October 9, 2001, Circulation”??

A seven year old article? I doubt the AHA has even looked at the topic again since then.

High protein diets typically call for 25 to 35 percent of daily calories from protein and up to 68 percent of calories from fat

25-35% is high protein!?!?!!?!

Where have I been?[/quote]

Yeah, exactly what I was wondering. I think this was just maybe a knee-jerk reaction to the Atkins thing that was in vogue for while (and may still be, I just haven’t heard anyone mention it for a while).

… so let’s go for some soy.

I’d like to see the physiques of the people who wrote that article…

Well, this is Clarence Bass, the admin/owner of cbass.com, where this article was posted. I don’t agree with it, and he didn’t write it, but he agrees with it, and it seems to have worked for him.

Hmmm, interesting. I started eating more healthy fats in the form of mixed nuts, more vegetables and more beef.
My bad cholesteral went down, my good cholesterol went up on a diet with over 150 grams of fat daily.
Sure it’s just a personal antecdote with a sample of one, but it worked and it was based on articles that I read here about scientific studies.

I know which studies I believe…

This was the quote from the top of the page on the cbass site- It’s atleast 50 percent right, right?

“Most of the hard gainers are non-steroid users who are brain-washed to follow a steroid-user workout and also think they have to eat only proteins.” Jeff Everson, Ph.D., Planet Muscle

Its crap articles like this and the way that supposed experts think that make me ashamed to call myself a dietitian. I am a firm believer in lower carb,(fruits, veggies, and things like quinoa, oatmeal etc.),high protein, healthy fat lifestyle.

I get so frustrated when ever I talk to other dietitans about my diet because they look at me like I’m crazy that I follow a heaven forbid, high protein low carb diet. It makes me mad that most “nutrition experts” are so narrow minded that they cant think outside of what so and so organization says or preaches as the best way to eat, if they just took the time to look at what really works in the real world and not in some controlled study situation, they would realize their preaching of low protein, high carb has not done a damn thing except make us fatter.

Yeah, no kidding, Slim. It was only after I gave up my 6x/week intensive marathon workout regime in disgust that I really started gaining as a teenager. Funny, I never figured that the gains would actually start then.
