The subtext here is that if he doesn’t change his mind to suit YOUR worldview, he’s not as smart as you thought. You still seem hellbent on classifying everyone that disagrees with you as some young whippersnapper. Get over yourself.
I don’t know how you live. But, where I come from one sign of intelligence is being able to form a different opinion as new information enters yours realm. Now I know that’s not how you operate. But others smarter than you, which would include me, him, and just about everyone else on this board do operate that way.

Run along now, go find a funny new cartoon to post. GOOD BOY (pats head) - Go on now…

Interesting game you try to play. A little sad, but interesting nonetheless.

You see, you are right. Intelligence is being able to form new ideas as new information comes to light. That is the exact opposite of how you’ve demonstrated you work. Anything that contradicts your world view is quickly discarded and anything that can be used to support it is triumphed as a golden standard.

You are a sad little man, and your posts prove this.
Are you crazy man? You just wasted a post with no funny little cartoon. Every time you do this you slip further from your strong suit. If you’re not careful you’ll loose your position as village idiot.

Which is something you DON’T DO.
I’ve done that all my life - For example, when I first saw one of your posts back in 07’ I thought that you might have something important to say. But, over time you’ve proven to be a very large bag of hot air. So, like many others have done, I changed my mind about you.

You don’t even know enough about Christianity to know that it matters not what “brand” you practice which dictates whether or not you reach heaven?

You are twisting the truth again forlife, just like you know who does. I already gave you a short list of evidence which I looked at BEFORE I became a Christian. Sounds like you need to educate yourself on the various Christian faiths.
You think so? I’m not the one who said that the Catholics think Mary can save them and send them to heaven. LOL, you goof.

A blatant misquote is all you can offer in response to my posts? Seriously?
You said in your second to last paragraph on a post in the previous page:
Catholics see the virgin Mary and are saved by saints,
You like to play fast and loose with the facts and you got caught on this one by Sloth. You said it and it’s wrong. This is only one demonstration of how little you know about religion and God. The fact that you are denying it also plays to your history of twisting your way through one of these debates. But it just doesn’t work (all the time), sorry.

This is a lie. And this is why they gave you the name "forliar on other threads. You post things that are blatantly untrue to make a point and when they are caught you back peddle.

Or, instead of name calling you could try improving your reading comprehension.

Whose god is right? Millions of Christians say you are going to hell because you haven’t been baptized by full immersion by someone in authority. Are you so convinced that your particular interpretation is right that you are willing to disregard their earnest concern for the eternal welfare of your soul? How about the many other reasons devout Christians believe you are bound for hell? They have the same bible as you, they pray as earnestly as you, and their religious experiences are just as profound. So where is your “evidence” that you are right, and they are wrong?

And the past 2 threads were doing so well…

There is no disputing it and there is no other way to interpret it. That you are back peddling now is not surprising. You have to remember who you are talking to here forlife. We have a long history of being on opposing sides. And sometimes, I’ll even be gracious and say occasionally, when you are up against it, you twist the truth to suit your needs.

The best thing for you to do at this point is simply say that you mis-spoke, we all do that on occasion. Following your false statement with a lie is just too easy to catch. Would you like me to produce your entire post?

Really, it’s just time to say you made a mistake and move on I won’t even mention it again.

The moment you start any thread in this forum related even in passing to religion, it is merely a matter of time before it degenerates into Bible study.

Zeb, why is it that whenever you lack a substantive response, you resort to name calling? Ridiculing people for their supposed age, or calling people liars, doesn’t help your case. Seriously. Either keep the discussion focused on the topic or don’t bother responding to me in the future.

I’ll try one last time.

I said many Catholics claim to have seen the virgin Mary. This is a fact.

I also said many Catholics claim to have been saved by saints. This is also a fact. Catholics pray for intercession by saints, and there are many accounts of saints performing miraculous acts on behalf of others.

I don’t know what your problem is, unless you’re just playing games. I never said Catholics were saved by Mary, nor did I say that saints saved the souls of Catholics. I was talking about miraculous interventions, which are well documented in Catholic dogma.

And again, my point is that just because people make these claims, and fervently believe them, doesn’t provide any evidence that they actually happened. I don’t believe they actually saw the virgin Mary, any more than I believe people actually saw Jesus walking on water.

If it helps to keep you sane, then I’ll say that I at least understand the point you’ve been making.

On the very same note, I’m completely flummoxed that ZEB etc don’t/won’t understand it. They’re constantly dodging the point because it leads to one, inescapable conclusion and its a conclusion they aren’t willing to accept.

How about answering the point instead of name calling? Are you disputing that millions of Christians believe other Christians are going to hell?

You’ve been a Baptist and a Catholic, so I know you know better than that. Baptists believe that you MUST be baptized by immersion to inherit the kingdom of god. Catholics also believe that you MUST be baptized, although not by immersion. Other Christians believe baptism is NOT required for salvation. This is just one example if a core doctrine that is absolutely critical, depending on who is right.

Problem is, there is no way to determine who, if any, is right. Faith gets you nowhere in differentiating between the different Christian beliefs. Which is precisely my point.

Why is it whenever you are trapped and have no where to go you lie? If I call you on that you claim that I’m name calling. Well so be it. Stop lying and I will stop calling you a liar.

But, that’s not what you said originally as we both know. If you want to change it now, fine. But originally you said that Catholics were saved by saints. Then when I called you on it, you denied it. That’s what you do - You twist, just as you’re trying to do now.

I’m an odd guy I enjoy people who tell the truth.

You did say it and when I have more time I’ll enter your entire post here.

Show where I said Catholics are saved by Mary.

Show where I said the souls of Catholics are saved by saints.

I guess you’ve never heard of someone’s life being saved?

Either man up and admit you misrepresented me or kindly go away. Your choice will determine how I respond to you in the future.

I know I shouldn’t let myself get drawn in by his games, but it’s hard not to when someone questions your integrity.

One reason I like Cortes, Tiribulus, etc. is that even when we disagree, we don’t question the sincerity of one another, nor are there personal attacks on each other’s character.

I agree. To be fair, ZEB has been courteous to me, but for some reason has taken a severe dislike to you and isn’t acting very adult about things. This is disappointing as I thought that he had some interesting things to say.
