Just looked up a detailed description of Capricorn (me) and it’s an almost perfect description. Freaky.
Anyway, everyone read this and see how it applies to you:
"Some of your aspirations tend to be pretty unrealistic. At times you are extroverted, affable, sociable, while at other times you are introverted, wary and reserved. You have found it unwise to be too frank in revealing yourself to others. You pride yourself on being an independent thinker and do not accept others’ opinions without satisfactory proof. You prefer a certain amount of change and variety, and become dissatisfied when hemmed in by restrictions and limitations. At times you have serious doubts as to whether you have made the right decision or done the right thing. Disciplined and controlled on the outside, you tend to be worrisome and insecure on the inside.
Your sexual adjustment has presented some problems for you. While you have some personality weaknesses, you are generally able to compensate for them. You have a great deal of unused capacity which you have not turned to your advantage. You have a tendency to be critical of yourself. You have a strong need for other people to like you and for them to admire you."
Am I psychic or what?! Or maybe the above pretty much applies to 98% of people. Cold reading rules.

OMG I am a Capricorn and that description fit me too! Sometimes my aspirations are overly amibitous, I pride myself on being an independent thinker, I like change and variety, I don’t like restritions, I get worrisome, I have some “unused capacity”, and I have a desire for people to like me! Those astrologers nailed it!

Sorry-I read that wrong. I thought you were asking about astrology and PHYSICS.
That was funny, JSB.
Astrology is more accurate the more detail you can provide, particularily exact time of birth. Sun sign is extremely general, but rising signs, moon, and planetary aspects are far more revealing. I find it to be occasionally quite illuminating in the ongoing quest for self-awareness.
I am a Leo, by the way, with an Aquarius rising, hehe!..

hehe. I’m a Libra. That’s about all I know. Who would’ve thought we had so many here into astrology. I’m curious-Sabrina, maybe you can answer. Or Karma. Does astrology explain at all why and by what mechanisms planetary and stellar allignment effect personality, etc…? Or do does it just say how?
I dunno about astrology, but I do believe some people have extra-sensory perception. I don’t, however, think it is very controllable, and therefore all telephone psychics are bs. I’ve seen my mom tell strangers she meets details about their life and what will happen to them in the next few months within less than 60 seconds of meeting them) more times than can be explained by chance. She never knows why she says it either, just feels compelled to (she sells insurance, not psychic crap). When I was younger, I used to have dreams of places I didn’t know I would visit detailed to the very cracks in the sidewalks I would come across. Hasn’t happened since adolescence though, and I don’t expect anyone to believe me.

I’m a believer in certain aspects of Astrology - as in those born under certain arrangements tend to have certain characteristics, certain astral occurances tend to affect certain people/behaviours. I’ve done too many charts for various people and “blind” tests not to believe in it. I have an elementary understanding of current astral patterns and how they relate to immediate trends (immediate being in ‘cosmic’ sense of months to years). However, I do not believe that someone is “fated” to a certain life/circumstance based on their chart or that personal responsibility is in any way diminished by the celestial activities.
Psychics - Well, I think 99% of them are full of shit. Great people-readers and salesmanship, but false nonetheless. There are those that do have a degree of clairvoyance, though. Again, I’d not have believed it if I hadn’t experienced it.
Why do you ask?
I’m absolutely a believer in astrology. I’m a cancer with a virgo ascendency, which is soooo me. Like you karma, there’s too many accuracies for me and those I know to NOT believe in it. I asked just because I was curious. I’m also a believer in energies and stuff like that. While I think that astrology offers great insight into personality and behavior, I absolutely think we have total free will and can change course at any time.
My favorite favorite astrology website is astrologycom.com It offers basic info on the foundational elements of astrology, breaks down each sign, offers various compatibilities, and even gives you an astrological description of sexuality.

for anyone that thinks they can prove they have paranormal skills…here’s a way for you to become a millionaire…
Very interesting how they haven’t found anyone to even pass the preliminary test yet…
Those with paranormal abilities must not like money.
indeed…
you’d think that with all the million upon millions of gullible followers that at least one psychic or astrologer would have cashed in by now if there was even a SHRED of evidence supporting their bogus claims…
well…as P.T. Barnum once said “there’s a sucker born every minute”.

Not that a person making money at something is the end-all-be-all of defining that ‘thing’s’ veracity; a ton of so-called (I say that as I have no personal knowledge of their ability) psychics have “cashed” in - in real life. Sylvia Brown, anyone? You think she’s on every other episode of Montel for free? Dione Warwick? Takes money to make commercials, even bad ones.
Anyway, enough with that. If you’ve educated yourself on the matter and decide that there’s not enough evidence to cause you to believe in any aspect of it - so be it.
If you’ve not educated yourself and yet have formed an opinion… You hereby forfeit any ability to say word one to any newbie/troll/vegetarian/skinny-bastard-looking-to-cut/fat-bastard-looking-to-bulk/cardio-bunny-looking-to-tone/etc. Yep, you’ve become one of them… Someone with all the information at their fingertips yet who refuses to look at the evidence prior to forming an opinion.

critical thinking courses were part of my major in college (I majored in philosophy at the University of Washington)…so yes (in my opinion) I have educated myself and decided that there is NO evidence to cause me to believe in any aspect of it.
Sylvia Brown is more than welcome to pick up a million dollar pay check anytime she is willing…unless of coures she’s a fraud…
