Ashcroft mosaic from porn

Nephrom - I probably over reacted a bit too, but I actually knew people who were taking all out joy in his being hurt, and they were quite serious about it.

Nephorm –

If you really are concerned about civil liberties, and specifically the 1st Amendment, then anti-discrimination bureaucrats are a far bigger threat than is Ashcroft. See, generally, the great book “You Can’t Say That!” by George Mason University 1st Amendment law professor David Bernstein.

Cory –

I’m not surprised you know people who would actually take joy in the idea that Ashcroft might die – I knew those people in law school too. Not the same ones of course, but they are all caricatures drawn from the same model.

BostonBarrister: No argument here. As my father (a former DC cop) put it, the ADA is a ticking time-bomb. At one point they were talking about making police cars handicap-accessible…
At least Ashcroft is sufficiently in the public eye that people will see (and react) to what he does. The ultra-PC liberals, however, have popular support, and are more likely to convince people that they’re right.

Cory: No hard feelings. I’ll try to keep the schadenfreude to a minimum

BB - I actually saw Bernstein speak at my school about that book earlier this fall. It was held by the Federalist Society and it was a debate between him and David McGowan, one of my libertarian professors.

Bernstein got stomped.

As one of my friends put it, “McGowan was burning down his house and Bernstein was standing there with a squirt gun and his hand on his dick.” McGowan was writing a critique of the book and he basically said it’s a bunch of intersting stories, many of which he agreed with, but it failed to make any argument. So the book was basically just stories to rally around.

On the other hand, he gave “Restoring the Lost Constitution: Presumption of Liberty” good reviews. He said that it makes some good arguments and brings out a lot of good points about the actual intention of the founders and how constitutional interpretation has changed over time.

Anybody have an idea what program they used to build that mosaic???

As my father (a former DC cop) put it, the ADA is a ticking time-bomb.

American Dental Association? Yeah, I can’t believe those bastards say flouride is good for you.

Americans with Disabilities Act.

That is fantastic!

The mentality of this person is something to behold. He’s draping sheets over beautiful art because they are nudes. These are the kinds of people running the country.

I would have been more impressed to hear that when he was annointed in oil, his wife jumped on him and slathered it all over their naked bodies.

Not pretty but probably a little more encouraging.

BostonBarrister,

You are exactly right!

The funny thing about Ashcroft is that prior to getting appointed to the AG’s office he ran for re-election in a state in which he was previously govenor and lost to a dead man! It cracks me up that the people of Missouri didnt want him representing us and now he has more power as an AG. It makes me sick to my stomach.

The only way to get rid of people like him is to vote Bush out of office after all he appointed Ashcroft and Bush also appointed Michael Powell to head of the FCC and look what is happening now! If we don’t do something about this we are going to lose alot of our freedoms because of some religious nuts in this country!

Yeah, let’s vote Bush out of office! Screw the war on terror, I want my porn!

Musclerob Buffpants, you’re one funny dude

Cory –

I would have to agree – there in no coherent argument to Bernstein’s book. It IS a collection of stories to rally around – and a good one at that. I think it is basically meant for those who have an underlying respect for the 1st Amendment as a starting point – it wouldn’t convince anyone who thought that anti-discrimination laws (mostly federal and state statutory laws, btw) should trump the Constitutional protections of the 1st Amendment. However, it would serve as a good illustration for those ostrich-types who don’t think 1st Amendment rights are falling victim to anti-discrimination laws.

That said, I like it because to me the stories provided lots of good anecdotes.

Buffy, you seem to be making the assumption that only bushleague jr. can prosecute a war on terror, even though his failures on that front have cost many, many lives and billions of dollars.

America is at a much greater risk of terror today than we were one year ago, and that risk is growing daily. And what exactly does your porn surfing have to do with anything, anyway?

Buffpants, I suppose you believe the Bush Admin. is the only one who can handle the war on terror then answer me as to why they STILL can not capture Bin-Laden? And Iraq is going quite well, isn’t it? It is clear the Bush Admin. DOESN’T have a well thought out plan for Iraq they thought we would just waltz right in and take over without any resistance but it keeps on getting worse in Iraq, and the Bush Admin clearly DOESN’T know what to do now! It will be interesting to see how Bush LIES tonight to the whole nation as he tell how well the situation is going in Iraq. Seems to me this Address to the Nation is all about damage control because Bush looks bad!!

Is tme for real?

Yes, Buffy. Are you?

Buffpants, I suppose you believe the Bush Admin. is the only one who can handle the war on terror…

What are the other options? Out of the options, yes, Bush is the only one.

…then answer me as to why they STILL can not capture Bin-Laden?

I don’t know. That is a very difficult area to deal with, and there are miles and miles of tunnels that people can escape with. BUT, Bin Laden is on the run, and that makes it very difficult for him to plan anything since he doesn’t use electronics. That is a good thing.

And Iraq is going quite well, isn’t it?

Yes it is.

It is clear the Bush Admin. DOESN’T have a well thought out plan for Iraq they thought we would just waltz right in and take over without any resistance but it keeps on getting worse in Iraq, and the Bush Admin clearly DOESN’T know what to do now!

They DO have a well thought out plan. We did just waltz right in and take over. Worse? You mean some terrorists is worse resistance than the Iraqi army? They don’t know what to do? They are going to stay there and kill this radical minority that wants to stop the freedom of the Iraqi people and create a free Iraq. Do you not have a clue about any of this??

It will be interesting to see how Bush LIES tonight to the whole nation as he tell how well the situation is going in Iraq. Seems to me this Address to the Nation is all about damage control because Bush looks bad!!

It is going very well in Iraq. Holey crap, you need a reality check.

You know, if you just reported only murders in NYC, then NYC would look like some horrible place that is out of control. Not to mention there would be more murders in that city than there are in all of Iraq.
