Arnold's words: T3 (spoilers) and King Conan!!!

To char-dawg: Thank you.

My vote for son goes to Irkle.

You know, the goofy, uncoordinated, but always loveable and good-hearted kid, playing Arnold’s adopted son…

Brings a tear to my eye…

I agree with Char. Altho the Rock’s kinda not cool (I really don’t like his dumb wrstler crap), but V. Diesel is HOT and suitable for the son role.

First of all: The Rock or Vin Diesel would not be good picks for the role of Kon. And they were briefly considered, but not anymore. Vin Diesel’s schedule is pretty filled for 2003-04 - with XXX2 and Riddick. The Rock is already scheduled for two other flicks.

My picks for Kon? Easy. Rufus Sewell (Dark City, A Knight’s Tale) - a wonderfully intense actor with a great range. He can pull off hate and be all “bad guy” but still you have some sympathy for him. BTW: I do recommend “Dark City” - best movie of 1998, IMO.
Eric Bana (The Hulk), another good, intense actor.
Clive Owen (Croupier, Gosford Park, Bourne Identity), - a more quiet, brooding intensity. However, he was just cast in “King Arthur” as…King Arthur.
Luke Goss (Blade II as Nomak). Man, he stole scenes from Wesley in Blade II. Personally, I think he’d be perfect for the role.
Gerard Butler (Reign of Fire, Dracula 2000) - he’s already starred as Attila the Hun, why not as Conan’s son?

So that thar be my thoughts. Discuss…

Dark City was really good. It’s a shame that even many die-hard scifi fans haven’t seen it. But I don’t think Rufus is right for this. Whoever plays Ahnold’s son needs to be big, period. Also, I suspect this will be more of an action movie than an intense drama when all is said and done. How about Ralf Moeller, he wasn’t THAT bad an actor in Gladiator. Too bad they killed off Sven Ole Thorsen, I’d love to see him in the new one.

Ralf Moeller would be too old as Kon.

I believe an actor who is not only physically capable, but “dramatically” capable should be Kon. Which is exactly why I included Rufus. He was also a “physical presence” in “A Knight’s Tale”. And he will also be seen in “Troy”. “Troy”, a movie about the Trojan War, will also star, Brad Pitt, Peter O’Toole, Brian Cox, Orlando Bloom, Sean Bean, Eric Bana - and several others (and begins filming in April. Director, Wolfgang Peterson).

You know, after much thinking. And I do think about these things. NOT politics hinthint*, but all things film. Rufus would make a great Fortunas. And Luke Goss would be a great Kon.

Patricia - Thanks, nice to have some help from the Bitchosphere.

I don’t mean to be a complete ignoramus, but the information I saw there included an ongoing petition to have Milius direct it. It could be that I’m just a horse, but seems to me that the film is far from set it stone - much to my dismay! Crom forbid they make another “Destroyer” catastrophe with some second string director.

On the positive side, I don’t think they would bother to make it without Arnold, and I don’t think Arnold would star in another “Destroyer”. He still has enough weight to throw around to influence what happens with a project.

Hopefully what Arnold said at the classic will hold true. I hope his 2.5 hours workouts and the cycles he’ll do to get big enough for the role don’t terminate his ageing heart. By the time he would get around to filming it in 2005 he’ll be pushing 60!

Gotta love him.
