Are you a rebel? šŸ•¶

*Reactance
*High openness to experience

Non-conformist and counter culture seem pretty close. Listed separately I assume counter culture refers to the green haired, stinky armpit types being different just for the sake of it, and non-conformist is a free-thinker independent of societal pressure.

In this context I’d add non-conformist to my bullet points.

I live the life of and am an admitted square, because I don’t want to ruin my life, have people who depend on me, and I’m not anti-social. However, I am countercultural and open to new ideas and experiences, and at times feel like rebelling.

Likely no one who knows me, including people I’ve met in person from TN, would consider me a rebel.

I do put a premium on obedience and authority so long as those in charge are doing good (eg, older family members, teachers, bosses, etc.). This is not rebellious.

I seriously wanted to rebel as a kid, but was inherently a ā€œgood boyā€ and didn’t want confrontation and trouble in my life or to cause it for others. As I’ve stated in some threads throughout the years, as a young boy, I became mesmerized by the NYC graffiti scene (started noticing it at 7 years old in 1987 as my mom schlepped me around the Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan) and wanted to be like the older people who partook in it, but my morals and not wanting to ruin my life or even die got the best of me.

My brother was and is an actual rebel. It’s amazing we’re related.

Every time I see my mother she tells me about that same guy!

He’s the son she wishes she had.
