Every person has the exact same characteristics as any other human walking around the world today. We only vary in four capacities. Now these EXACT same traits can be applied to the unborn; they may differ in size, level of development, environment, or degree of dependency, but we all do. That doesn’t make them less human, but, rather, it proves the humanity of the unborn.

Also, I have to alternate between the top and bottom of layered response boxes to follow the post where I would otherwise just follow them top down in order.

So, I don’t think how one defines human is particularly important. It doesn’t matter to me if the unborn child is “human” or not. It is a parasitic organism (not to say it is literally a parasite since I is of the same species, but it is parasitic). I would ask, do we have the right to force other people to support and maintain a parasitic life form that they do not want? Especially considering that once the baby is born it will have to be raised? I would say no. No other being is entitled to live off the life force of another.

Lets say by some strange circumstances a man (who has no living family) gets some kind of medical sickness that requires them to be physically hooked up to you and you will have to support them in much the same way a pregnant woman does an unborn baby. Should you be forced to do this if you don’t want to? Lets say that the disease is as such that even after this 9 month treatment it would take another 16-20(ish) years before they could take care of themselves. Would you be willing to do that? Sure, you could dump him on the hospital and hope that someone else picks him up, but it’s going to be somebodies responsibility one way or another. And what does this man emerge to? A world that doesn’t want him.

Now, I personally do not support abortion in my own life. I wouldn’t want my girlfriend to get one if I knocked her up. However, this doesn’t give me the right to tell other people that they must support a life they don’t want to. They are their own people with their own thoughts and lives and if I expect them to respect me as an individual, I must do the same for them.

Sorry in Western Civilization a person has rights, the most important is life. It’s our Roman, Jewish, and Christian roots.

It most definitely matters if an unborn child is a person or human (the latter being part of the former).

If we do not protect the most exploitable, innocent, voiceless, and helpless of persons that doesn’t speak well for the future of the rest of society (that would be us, the persons actually arguing about if a person willfully killing an innocent person is a viable choice).

You’ve missed my point. Whether you are a person or not, you don’t have the right to force someone else to physically support your life. If a fetus is a person, then this includes them as well. There’s a difference between “killing” something and “not keeping it alive”. If you kicked your room mate out and as a result he starved to death did you kill them? No, you just stopped letting them mooch off you and they were unable to cope.
