Anyone Shop at Costco/Sam's Club?

i’m a poor student, costco saves my life… with all i eat i’d be hard pressed to have any disposable income after groceries… i was pretty sad last time i was there though, they had these boxes of skinless boneless chicken breasts… 40 breasts @ about 10-12oz each, and i can’t find them anymore >:/

I agree, that and you don’t support the evil empire.
We had a Costco membership for a year and we won’t ever pay for one again.

It is a bit out of the way and the prices are no better than the local grocery stores when they put things on sale, which is every week.

My wife takes 10 minutes every Sunday and goes through the ads of the three local supermarkets to get the best prices on things.

She did a cost comparison when we had the membership and found that grocery store sale prices were always better than the Costco price often by a wide margin.

If you don’t want to take the time to comparison shop then Costco can be a fair deal because you don’t have to wait for the sale or go to multiple stores.

The food samples in Costco are very cool.
I find that quite hard to believe. My membership pays for itself thru the savings I get on 1/2 and 1/2 alone, an item that rarely goes on sale.

In the fresh meat area you may have a point. I have noticed that the prices on steaks, chicken breasts and certain types of fish are close to supermarket prices. Not all fish mind you.

But you cannot compare massive savings on items including, but most certainly not restricted to, fish oil, high-quality batteries, light bulbs, razors, Kenneth Cole shirts, Polo Levis and Lucky Jeans, etcetera.

This week alone I bought 2 packs of light bulbs, one long-life the other ultra-efficient spiral - the savings compared to my supermarket and HomeDepot were almost $20.

I go to Sam’s for anything Biotest doesn’t sell. Members Mark vitamins etc. are ok (as far as I know) I buy their Flaxseed, Fish Oil, Multi-Vitamin capsules. I don’t think it makes that big of a difference until Biotest comes out with these.

Sorry to have a couscience, I’m making an effort to vote with my dollars and minimize the federal budget overages by trying not to patronize those companies that are heavily reliant upon corporate welfare and their employees upon governmental programs as such governmental practices are ultimately unsustainable and injurious to my country’s fiscal health.

No offense to anyone who faces the financial catch-22 that requires them to engage in such consumption behavior though.
