This is true, poor quality vodka will leave you with a terrible hangover. Good quality vodka like those you mention will not, provided you stay hydrated.

Beebuddy, I’m going to have to disagree with you. Freshly distilled vodka and whiskey are two totally different compounds, both in taste and chemical makeup.

Even vodka itself can be made several different ways, which will result in differences in smell, taste, and after taste.

If you’ve never had really good vodka, I can see why you would make your previous statement, as most brands that are commonly touted as “high end,” like Grey Goose, Belvidere, ect, still taste fairly similar to brands like Smirnoff and Skyy.

That is an unfair comparison. That’s like comparing Natty Ice to Bud Light. Yeah, there’s not that much difference, but to write off all other beers would have you missing out on a lot.

There are several good brands to pick. Try Armadale or Jewel of Russia for a good idea. Pearl vodka is slightly less expensive, but surprisingly good.

And to Ab_Power, when mixing, use anything since the taste will be coming from the mixers. For mixing, Hangar One has the best line of flavored vodkas.

Not to be a jackass, but I’ve worked as a bartender for a while now. I’m kind of a booze fanatic.

The funny thing that nobody seems to realize is that all vodka is the same low quality unaged shit, save for the number of times and manner it’s filtered.

Think about that when you pay 30+$$ for your next bottle.
Try an experiment, then. Drink a $10 bottle of vodka one night. Drink nothing but this and take note of how you feel the next day.

Another time, under the same conditions, drink only Grey Goose and see how you feel the next day. If you don’t notice a difference I’ll give you a delicious oily food rub.

Also Grey Goose tastes far better than crap vodka. There is a difference.

Of course this experiment has been tried many times, you realize.

Vodka is for women, Russians, and homos. Men drink whiskey or beer.

There are only three things that can change vodka. The water used, the starch and yeast used, and the method and number of times it is filtered. It simply can’t get that good. I’m sure it can get very very bad, and in fact I have heard of Russian suppliers being arrested for selling impure stuff.

Whiskey, like non-potato vodka, is made from a grain also. The difference is in the method of aging etc… That’s where the quality comes from and this step is missing from vodka. It goes from still to bottle. Vodka is basically a Russian word for moonshine.

If you can give me one other step in the process that could affect the quality then maybe I can see your point.

If you wanna drink vodka it really doesnt matter what kind you get, it all tastes like rubbing alcohol when its taken by itself. If you drink it mixed then it will taste like the mix. So by the cheapest stuff and save your money. Or do what i do and drink them stones.

Everyone sing along! (to the melody of Queen - Heaven for Everyone. If you dont know it, check this out - YouTube)

(This could be vodka)
(This could be vodka)
(This could be vodka)
This could be vodka, this could be Vodka for everyone,
(This could be vodka)
This could be vodka, this could be Vodka, this could be vodka for everyone

In these days, of chilled vodka (vodka)
Vodka comes to me and everything seems alright
In these days of lemon & vodka
It sits in a glass, and everythings fine,

This could be vodka for everyone,
This vodka could be neat, this vodka could be with orange,
This could be vodka for everyone,
It could be FREE! It WOULD be fun!

In this world, of coke & vodka,
Only when it’s neat, can it smooth my ride,
These troubled days of cruel barkeepers,
Saying there out, of my vodka

Yeah, This could be vodka for everyone,
This vodka could be with ice, this vodka could be with lager!
Yeah this could be MORE vodka for everyone (yeah)
This vodka should be free, then it WOULD be real fun!
We should be vodka for our daughters and sons,
vodka, vodka, vodka, vodka,
This could be vodka for everyone

You know that
(This could be vodka for everyone)
Yes!
(This could be vodka for everyone)

This could be vodka for everyone

Listen.
What people do, to their vodkas,
They mix it with Baileys, destroy their voddies,
Thier basic pride, and vodkericy,
Is striped and torn, and shown no pitty,
After what they did, to their voddie,

This could be vodka, This could be vodka,
This could be vodka for everyone, This could be vodka, This could be vodka for everyone
This could be vodka (this could be vodka)
This could be vodka, could be vodka for everyone
This could be vodka (This could be vodka)
This could be vodka, could be vodka for everyone
This could be vodka
This could be vodka for everyone
This could be vodka
This could be vodka
This could be vodka…
For everyone
For everyone

I, like the majority of people who have drank alcohol, have driven drunk at some point in my life.

That doesnt make it right. Plenty of those people have ended up hurting someone else.

With that said, give me a break with the holier-than-thou bullshit.

No. Because its not bullshit.

Like many other things, there should be an IQ test to make sure yours doesnt compare to a tomato plant, to dictate you can drink alcohol. Fuck this 21 year old law.

What’s up with the tomato plant-bashing?
For real! I dare all the haters in the audience to find me one tomato plant that has driven under the influence! I bet you can’t.

Ketel One Citroen…nice!
