Any New Car Advice?

Acura TSX is a great car compared to the competitors. Affordable and reliable. TL is nice too. I’m a big fan of Acura and have owned many of them. They also have a great warranty and very little maintenance.

If you want sporty, look at the Infinity G35 coupe, Nissan 350z, Honda S2000 (small, but fun), new Lexus, Mazda 3 or 6 or the new Honda Civic Si.

I bought the new '06 Civic Si. For 19,900, you get 200hp, a 6-speed close-ratio transmission with a short-throw shifter, limited slip differential, stock 17" tires, and a load of other racing-type goodies. 8500rpm redline? Fun stuff.

Oh, and if you look young (like I do), you can probably get some college girls out of the deal too.

What kind of gas mileage do you get? How is the interior quality? Is it a comfortable ride or is it a bit harsh because of the sport setup? That’s a crazy cheap price for that much…a review I just read described it as “a poor-man’s M3”, and that certainly caught my attention.

I have the opportunity to drive a lot of different rentals when I go out of town on business.

Magnum: Awesome driving. Powerful and even handles well. Horrible gas mileage though.

Dodge Charger (very much like the new Mustang): Rough shifting. Didn’t like the handling at all. Side visibility was crap.

Thats very interesting, especially because they are the same car with different body styles. And the Chrysler 300.

Mabey you got different models though. (2 different engines, one is the Hemi V8).

A buddy at work just bought a Jetta TDI a few weeks ago, I think it was around $22k or so. He’s been getting over 40mpg the first few tanks, it’s supposed to get better after break-in though.

you could get an Acura TSX. It is the american version of the Honda Accord Type R. So it should be pretty fun to drive.

Go with the Acura TSX, especially if you care about reliability.

You could say the ride is a bit harsh. In all honesty, though, it doesn’t bother me much, and I’m taking it on a 30-plus mile commute downtown 5-6 times a week.

The interior is really well done. I’ve never owned a Honda before, and I was surprised at how nice (and well thought-out) it was. The only possible trouble area there is the fabric they’ve used on the seats, which is pretty soft, and I’m questioning how well it’ll hold up over 5+ years. But if you’re looking to only lease for 2-3 years, that shouldn’t be anything to concern yourself with.

Gas mileage is decent. They sticker it at 23 city / 32 highway if I recall correctly. I see about 24-25ish to the gallon, and I’d say I drive normally, if not a bit aggressively. All in all, I consider the car to be a complete bargain. Everyone who’s seen it has commented on (a) the quality – I hear “I can’t believe this is a Civic” frequently, and (b) the value. You get a lot more than you’re paying for.

My only concern at first was the fact that the engine is programmed to hold revs as you’re changing gears, but it’s easy enough to get used to.
