How about Amish or some of the Jewish communities instead?
If they behave like totalitarian regimes with zero tolerance for dissent and difference, which is also how fictional Utopias operate, then it would look like nazism. Spinoza got a taste of it, since you bring up the Jews.
Are you considering freedom of association, or do you just see some rules and start yelling “Nazi!”?
Because to my knowledge, which is admittedly limited, the Amish haven’t engaged in any blitzkrieg type excursions lately. Unless you feel that building some really nice sheds equates to genocide. I’m not willing to take that leap.
Well that’s not what the link actually says. It isn’t supporting monarchy but “a natural order”. From the summary @Silyak just posted it looks like Hoppes believes:
Natural order > monarchy > democracy
Which translates as far as I can tell after perusing the summary:
Hoppes’ preferred ancap regime > private monopolistic ownership of government > collective public ownership of government
It looks like the work is going to lay out the argument that the decline in Western monarchies after WW1 actually contributed to the rise of Communism, Socialism, Fascism etc… and the ever expanding growth of western governments since then.
It looks like a tough uphill battle.
I don’t think this is the place to explain Nazi ideology, which goes beyond war (and blitzkrieg is simply a tactic). But if I called it fascism would it make a difference? And I don’t think I would call those things “some” rules. Is freedom of speech just a rule?
It was the rise of nationalism, and the USA predates the French when it comes to republican revolutions, that was spurred on in part by the romantic movement which ended monarchies. That spirit of nationalism behind fascism in Italy and nazism in Germany. Then you add in the religious element to those isms and it’s no wonder people followed like sheep.
A. I wasn’t defending Hoppe’s arguments as I haven’t read even more than a summary. We should both probably read the book if we want to debate it. (Tnation book club?)
B. His anarchocapitalist vision for society doesn’t sound anything like national socialism under the Nazis.
You’re right.
You brought up Nazism.
I thought it had to be? The amount to be tolerated is just a matter of opinion with with no real right or wrong, no?
Sorry I’ve been absent, and probably will be for the rest of the weekend outside of today (partly)!
Well duh.
I had to read that monstrosity Mein Kampf so why would I deprive anyone else of that joy. Besides, you are asking someone to state in an internet post what Hitler took 700 pages to state.
That’s a swing and a miss. This will sound prickish but are you not well educated or just a youngster? Or are you a troll? I ask because either you have a limited tool set with which to function intellectually or you are playing dumb. You have a real lack of ability to grasp basic concepts. No real right and wrong? What does that even mean? Don’t worry, I don’t expect that you even know what you meant by that. I would suggest that you skip the party and go to the library.
Wait… you understood what that meant?
Yeah. He’s probably being sarcastic but at the end of the day free speech really just is a manmade rule that happens to be a matter of opinion.
It could be a reference to the question of whether or not there is an ultimate or supernatural source of morality (God) or if it is an entirely human construct, a debate he has engaged well in on many occasions.
He has plenty of tools and no lack of ability.
Is a right a right because one claims it as such, or are they granted by God and protected by rule of law?
If it needs the protection of law of man why would whether or not it came from god matter?
I tend to believe that folks resorting to pedo jokes about fellow posters are most likely trollish in their own right. And, this is the second time you’ve resorted to personal attacks. My experience informs me that people who question the intelligence of others do so out of their own limitations. As I won’t be resorting to “I know you are, but what am I” over and over with you, we’ll be parting ways. Have a great life! I let you get back to throwing around "Nazism.’
Yes, but it is still real.
