Did they give out $64,000 total, or was it $64,000 per employee? $64,000 total is really not that much per person over 3 years, now if it is $64,000 on average per employee over 3 years then yes that is crap. Good ol Guberment cheese.

I do not have first hand knowledge, but I see your point. When you are at the bottom of effectiveness at your job why would you get a bonus. Bonuses are tied to profit and we all know the Government produces zero profit. Look at GM, Fisker, Solyndra, and many others.

They do not work just like for profit people folks do. For Profit people always have the threat of a layoff if profits go away. The Government folks do not have to worry about these things. The government just raises taxes or prints money to pay these folks. And the Government employees on average get paid more than the private sector. You factor in benefits and the pay is even farther apart.

Low risk and great pay = Government / High Risk and lower pay = Private Sector. I will say this is starting to change because the government is loosing its grip on the citizens. Citizens want Freedom and high taxes does not equal freedom.

The boiling point is about to be reached. This is my opinion.

Come on dmaddox, that’s not true for every government employee. For example my father in law worked for the USPS for 20 years before he was laid off out of the blue. Normal/average everyday gov workers get up, go to work, work hard, and go home to mind their own business like everyone else.

I agree that gov workers are more secure in their jobs, but they aren’t untouchable. Unless they’re in Congress…

I’m also not arguing that the government isn’t too large. It is.

USPS is not the Government. It is a GSE (Government Sponsored Entity) like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. The US Government can pull their funding at any time of a GSE. Used to, say 15 years ago, the Government backing of a GSE was implied, but recently with everything going bad in the economy the GSE funding was kind of pulled, but the Government decided to bail out Fannie and Freddie because if they didnt want the housing market to get even worse.

Was it in 2005-2006 that the Government required the USPS to pay back something and that is what put them in the financial ruin they are in today. Not to mention emails taking a bulk of their business away.

Edit: I also mentioned the Security of the Government positions are loosing a bit of their security because of the government having to prioritize their limited funds. The citizens are tired of the Government being so big.

I am laughing right along with you. I can be an ass and I know that, so I did not mean to offend in any way.

I am sorry about your father-in-law losing his job. I have been laid off 3 times in my career. That is the main reason I got into real estate investing so I never had to worry about that any more. I am about to buy 61 unit apartment complex that will replace one quarter of my wife’s income. It is her turn to decide whether to retire or not.

Despite a very large tax increase on the rich, and a sales tax increase on the middle class, California’s unemployment rate continues to increase…

If you tax them, they will leave.

Good for you guys!

My father-in-law is actually doing better now so it all worked out.

Looks like another has been thrown under the bus. Lets see if she will tell all now.

Child suspended from school for the rest of the year for playing with a toy gun in his own yard.

This article does not state it, but it is my understanding the police actually handcuffed the kid.

It does state that he was shooting at people:

In a letter obtained by WAVY.com, school principal Matthew Delaney found that the “children were firing pellet guns at each other, and at people near the bus stop.” Delaney states in the letter that one child “was only 10 feet from the bus stop, and ran from the shots being fired, but was still hit.”

You never played with toy guns? Boys will be boys. That gun was not designed for lethality. I guess you to have been sissified.

There were two boys playing and shooting each other. They never ever left their yard. Both boys were suspended. Yeah a toy gun hit another child. I guess spit balls are also zero tolerance because someone might get hit.

It is a felony in New York, Florida and Texas to build, own or operate a spud gun.

A tube from which one may launch a potato using compressed air or combusted propane gas is considered a “destructive device” in these jurisdictions.

What the fuck, Texas?
