Ancillary - Postworkout Nutrition

I’m going to start doing ancillary circuits on my off days (issue 165) and just wanted to know if postworkout nutrition is neccessary? i would think it would be a waste of money to use surge on these days and i also plan on going to the gym on the way to work so it would kinda be inconvienient. if i could get some other opinions though i would appreciate it.

Nic- If cost and convenience weren’t issues then sure, Surge would help after an ancillary workout. But I don’t think you’d have to use it after this type of workout. I don’t myself, but I do like to get some liquid protein after my morning ancillary sessions, usually just some AP with fruit and/or oatmeal blended in. If you’re on a supplement budget, then I’d save Surge for the big, intense workouts- chest, back, legs, anything by Coach Davies etc.

I answered this very question for an upcoming Appetite for Construction column. I think it’s going to run next week.

I workout hard for each and every muscle group so if you consider ancillary bodyparts non important then why even work them out and waste your time and energy. I would suggest that you atleast consume some other protein like Mr. Shugart does. Some Whey protein isolate is cheap enough and it adds to your daily protein need so you kill 2 birds with one stone. laters pk

thanks for the replies guys. i will definately chck out the next appetite for destruction column. pkradgreek, it’s not that i consider them unimportant, i actually usually prioritize these parts by doing abs at the beginning of uppper body workouts, calves at the beginning of leg workouts, etc. its just that by doing them in a separate workout that probably only lasts 15 minutes i wasnt sure if i would need the “good stuff”. i think i will just stick with my postworkout shake before the surge era (grape juice and whey). once again, thanks for the replies.
