It’s like riding a moped, it’s fun, but you wouldn’t want your friends to see you doing it.

But back to what they were saying the one who looked to be about 5’4" said to the other one I really need to lose weight I decide last night now is the time.
What crossed my mind was at her height why was 250/300 the time? Why wasn’t 180? 140? when is the time to say enough already?
Was it the ruined furnature? Desentigrating joints what?
Just an observation but I have heard comments like this before so again why now? Why not befor?
Let’s give the lady the benefit of the doubt on what she meant. “Now is the time” to do something does not always literally mean now starting now is better than if one had started earlier. Often it means “I had better get going on this now, before things get even worse” or “I had better get going on this now, before it is too late”.

I can not believe there is actually an organization like this…
"Marilyn Wann, board member of the National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance, said fat people are the target of a witch hunt in a fitness-obsessed nation.
“Everyone thinks it’s OK to make fun of fatties,” said Wann, who won’t use the word “overweight” because she says it’s judgmental"
This organization might be a good idea if they had extensive and frequent protest marches. Protest marches, with mandatory participation standards for members.

Bullshit.
Why do they keep procreating?
The double negative strikes again!

There are some harsh attitudes towards fat people on this forum, but applied to the nation as a whole the above statement seems kind of paranoid. Also kind of humorous: doesn’t “witch hunt” usually imply trying to uncover something that is hidden, or making accusations about something that is not plainly visible?
Based on my observations and also based on what I have read: among adults it seems to be more socially acceptable to make fun of underweight people than it is to make fun of overweight people. (Kids typically make fun of everybody who is different than they are.)
I’ll come right out and say it: I hate fatties.
They look disgusting, take up too much space in airplane seats, and generally make me throw up in my mouth.
Thank god my colleagues are all fit and very active (lots of triathletes, lifters, etc), because my intolerance is so bad I can’t even really listen to fat people-- they have no credibility in my eyes.
They’re like jiggling, amorphous billboards that say “I’m lazy! I took the easy way out!”
Fuck 'em. I love where I live because, while somewhat shallow, people still care about looking good.
fat chicks rule! if it wasnt for fat chicks Mark Grace wouldn’t have been half the baseball player he is!
Hell I doubt the diamondbacks would have beat the Yankees in the world series.
slumpbusters rule,
Once, I put my friend’s height and weight in one of those BMI calculators, and it returned “OBESE”.
I never thought he was that big, and I laughed my ass off for a good five minutes straight just thinking about it.
Hey, I can bench press 300. With my tongue. Quarter pounders, that is. I rule.

Yeah, sure. Look whos talking. Nuff said.
That’s the biggest problem. I think for somebody who is already obese it is very hard, psychologically, to lose all the weight. A lot of determination and faith is needed since progress in the beginning is not very observable and they understand that it’s a LONG way. However it is always easier to maintain then improve, so by making OBESE less acceptable we might stop some of the people from getting fat. Stopping at 180 and coming down to 130 is WAY easier than stopping at 300 and coming down to 150.
Pretty much we should make boundaries of “acceptable” a little bit wider, but punish enourmously for going over them.

I was in Hong Kong around xmas you could not find a fat local with a dozen krispy kremes. It is expected in their society to call an indiviual on their excessive eating. Restraunt staff will tell you if you order too much food. What a concept!!!
PC IS THE PROBLEM.
Judgement is required to establish values in society.
China is set to take over the world one overweight obese-ass country at a time…

Roll her in flour and stick it in the wet bits.
You can only call someone “fat” if they are more than 50% fat, to be accurate. (that is a joke)
It would be OK to carry so much fat if there were not so many health problems associated with it. Not to mention lifestyle problems - I’ve known people who could only go through double doors. If there were no associated problems then it would be an OK choice of appearance.
Unfortunately I doubt most are fully aware of the long term health problems, especially diabetes and blindness. People don’t realise that one day, bits of their body might need to be removed - for example, their penis.
Now, although some people like to be fat, I’d say most feel trapped, out of control, and whatever they try they cannot get results.
Of course they haven’t tried what actually works, but quality information (as found on T-Nation) is NOT widely available in a sea of lies, dodgy magazines (including “health” and fitness magazines, not to mention popular womens’ magazines) … and a virtual conspiracy of junk food companies / drug companies / other interests who are not acting in their interest.
The last thing people should be doing is giving out the message that it is OK to be grossly overweight.
It saddens me to see, lately commercials have been sneaking fat kids into them. BAD bad bad. They are trying to reach the fat kids market by sneaking them into the ads. Not just kids they are using overweight adults too, in recent ads. It’s just not right.
In the effort to find a nice PC term for the huge fatasses of society, I hereby dub fat people…
PANORAMIC
Wow, look at that gorgeous panoramic view. The fact it usually refers to geographic sights is particularly fitting in its implications.
Yeah baby, she’s got a panoramic ass, it just goes on forever…

In addition to ignoring or not understanding the major long-term risks of obesity such as heart disease and diabetes, a lot of people either don’t know or are in denial that their excess weight is causing or aggravating their less serious health problems. They say they just have “bad knees” when really it’s all the extra weight causing the problem. Or they wonder why they don’t sleep well, and it’s the excess fat suffocating them and causing sleep apnea. Etc.
Being obese causes all manner of health issues that range from just annoying to deadly, and fat people would rather pretend that those problems are just bad luck than admit that they should be in control and do the work to fix it.

Who would have ever guessed you are from Jersey?
Just kidding, I’m the same way. They piss me off the most when:
-I am in the supermarket and their fat asses take up the whole damn aisle.
-I am on a plane and everytime an obese person gets on, and I begin silent prayer that they aren’t sitting in the seat next to me
-When they are in a car making a turn, and their amorphous blob of a body does not allow them to make the turn in a reasonable period of time.
-Every morning, when I get in the damn elevator to go to work.
-I can hear them breathing when they are 100 feet or more away from me.
I really could go on for hours.
