A Game of Thrones (Trailer)

There’s that too.

I’m glad Dinklage got cast, I’ve seen him in a few movies before and he’s a good actor - I think he’ll run with this part.

I’m looking forward to this!

Is that a Dark Angels logo from Warhammer 40K in your avatar?

That it is.

Never played the game - just started reading the stories and really liked the look of the design.

Just finished the 4th book, does anybody else think A Feast for Crows totally sucks? I still don’t get what the point of it was, the plot didn’t move forward at all. The ironmen have a horn that supposedly controls dragons, the Dorne used to have an alliance with the Targaryns, the maesters have a magic candle thing and Cersei got arrested. Thats it right? All of that could have been woven into a few pages.

What was the point of Brienne? Did we really need like 10 chapters about the Dorne to learn that one tiny fact? Samwell still sucks even though he’s getting some action, and there were only 3 chapters about Arya, the only interesting character in the book. The whole thing with Cersei is retarded, you know from the first 20 pages of the book the “young beautiful queen prophecy” is about Daenyris, not Margaery. Did we really need an entire book devoted to her being a dumb bitch? Maybe the rift between her and Jaime is going to be important later on, I guess.

Damn that was disappointing, GRRM is an asshole.

Prob shoulda had a spoiler alert in there.

But, basically you’re right. Especially after how awesome Storm of Swords was.

I’m on board. I didn’t know there were books related. Time to revisit this genre. I read mostly D&D related books (Salvatore, Dragonlance etc), Brooks/Shannara, Feist/Magician etc.

I heart you.

I probably read the DL Chronicles and Legends series about 15 times each between the time I was 12 and 22. Haven’t picked them up much lately. Salvatore is always a fun read, Drizzt is my homeboy. Honestly, not a big Brooks fan. Just can’t get into it, no matter how many times I try.

+1

In my tween years through the early teens I read lots of Drizzt and dragonlance books. I re-read them in college and a couple of years ago I went through the newer Drizzt books that had come out. All good.

But, IMO, GRRM’s A Song of Ice and Fire blows them out of the water. He’d better finish it!

PS I liked a Feast for Crows. Even if it wasn’t as good as some of his others, it was still amazing. I’m re-reading it now, when I finish, I’ll think about how it stacks up to the others.

Sean Bean’s the right man for Ed Stark.

  • SPOILER ALERT -

Pity that the characters he plays never survive more than half the story line.

I agree with Martin and I also trust he will come through with a satisfying conclusion.

A feast for crows wasn’t AS good as A Storm of Swords because a) A storm of swords is badass and AFFC is only half the book Martin intended it to be

To say i am psyched about the HBO release is an understatement

CAN THIS SHOW PLEASE COME OUT ALREADY!

Also, does anybody know if season 2 will be the second book, season 3 the third book etc.? (if they get made)

How can I watch this without HBO? Poor people need options!

Slightly unrelated, but in regards to anyone who feels that the Lost ending was “complete”- Dropout - Independent, ad-free, uncensored comedy.

Glad to see that Martin agrees with me.

That was great! Thanks.

In that link I posted, the creators of LOST replied that Martin may have it easier because his story doesn’t have a central mystery like their TV show did did. Well, whose fault is that?!??

The central mystery in Lost was “How much money can we milk this shit for before people start getting pissed??”

^^ Heh heh.

We had a thread here on T NATION back when the final episode was on, I don’t want to go over why I think the finale was a rip-off again, but yeah, many of us tore it a new asshole.

New trailer and video interview with GRRM are up:

Premiere starts tonight, wooo. My region celebrated by dumping a shitton of snow on us…in the middle of april. Sigh.
