A Black Republican vs CAIR

ya, I am with Max as far a the political correctness thing goes.

at this stage in my life, I damn near willing to vote for anybody, liberal or conservative, if they are brave enough to talk straight, stand by their beliefs and ditch the political correct speech.

Let’s ALSO keep in mind that people may be ideal for one role or position…but very ill-suited for another.

As an Army Officer? Outstanding. Seems like the Army’s loss.

As a Tea Party favorite “pwning” a Muslim in what is most likely a conservative crowd? Great.

As a POTUS?

The reality is if you can be angered and rattled by a guy holding up a Koran and asking a question in a respectful way…you most likely wouldn’t make it a week on the Primary trail.

No thanks.
And this has what to do with this thread? Will you tolerate a radical Islamic fundamentalist more than an American radical Christian? Really?
I say no radical religious zealot belongs in a position of authority in my country. That said, the guy makes a number of good points and seems to have a magnetic charisma.

In the end, though, the Koran is not unlike the Old Testament in that it can be interpreted in many ways. There are enough violent passages in the Judeo-Christian canon to justify the same sort of religious wars currently being waged by Jihadists. Praise must go to the millions of Christians and Jews that choose to ignore the vitriol and instead value nonviolent aspects of their religious dogmas. The same can be said for Muslims, many of whom are peaceful.
Actually no. Christians are not bound to the law of the old testament. The new testament is the “contract” between Christians and god. And the new testament and it’s examples are nothing like either the violence of the Koran or the old testament.

But either way all major schools of Christianity AND Judaism have rejected the violence and preach against it. The biggest difference is in the teaching.
Well said, and I do agree that the New Testament is nothing like the others. However, these points haven’t historically stopped some Christians from using religious dogma as an excuse for violence, warfare, and bloodshed.

The good ones–and they are many–see it as you do. Some don’t. They are bad Christians. Many Muslims believe that Jihadists are bad Muslims.

I love how he did not back down or resort political correctness. I am not sure about pres but definintly defense sec.

I agree with you, T.

I could see a solid Cabinet Post, but not POTUS.

One other thought. There is a lot of “He 'aint PC, F*CK YEAH!” sentiment going on. But he has to realize that he is in a far more public position than being an LC in the Army…or some anonymous poster on a B.B. Website.

He was treading very close to some “Fatwa” territory.

Mufasa,

The problem we have today, is that the Left knows that should they raise their voice, most (in the past) have back peddled. No one wants to be labeled a racist, xenophobe, fear-mongering, blah blah blah person, and the Left knows this. Shit, they capitalize on it. Look at the Arizona Immigration Law = Racists ! Union busting = assault on workers ! Cutting taxes = unpatriotic !

There is always a stigma to be attached to any political action (and yes Republicans are guilty of this too.) But doing what is right, in this case being fiscally responsible, is what is more important. Now, if you can throw a monkey wrench in that by screaming racist/xenophobe and it works, then fuck it you did your job. But if you stand up and say (with your nuts in your hand), “fuck you, call me whatever name you like, I am doing this shit. This shit should have NEVER gotten this far, and it’s time to be humbled.” I see the potential that West could do that.

Still it’s too early to tell about POTUS, but as a cabinet position yes he shows he could be a great candidate.

And for the record, if West ever did get elected and enacted Conservative values, he would be labeled an Uncle Tom sell-out by the Left.
