Besides, who cares about the bases?
Probably not Americans. If they had foreign bases on their soil, maybe they’d start caring.
Bases in over 120 countries is enough to scare the shit out of any sensible person. You seem to think that your sphere of influence is the whole planet, and that causes a great deal of deaths, pain and suffering.
Answer this: Would you not care if, say China. set up military bases in Georgia? I’m curious to see what your take on that is.
US presence around the world has been a god send. I wonder how many more wars would have been fought if it were not for our moderating hand.

Would I like it? No, not really. Would I kill Chinese people over it, most certainly not. If got really mad, I write my congressman. I wouldn’t like it but it would not drive me to murder, unlike the people whose actions you defend.
Excellent!
Now, can you be certain that all of your compatriots will be as moderate and poised in their response as you?

Got my point?
Lixy there is one huge point you are missing here and me being the nice guy that I am I will point it out for you. The country in which are bases are stationed we where asked by there government’s to have them. This is of big importance because if are government asked them here it would only be that we where in trouble and they would be welcomed.

With the exception of Cuba, but I really don’t give a damn how they feel about Gitmo.

No. The only people who freak out about shit like that are muslims with a chip on their shoulder; like the cartoon flap (what a disgrace!). I am pretty sure most of the people in the countries where we have bases don’t even know it, save for the communities right around it. Most who know it, probably don’t care, except for Cuba which was a trade off for not having nuclear war with Russia.

Then, if all those countries felt threatened by our presence, why don’t they simply all kick us out at the same time? We certainly couldn’t handle something like that.
I beg to differ.
You could take out ANY non-nuclear country.
Could it be that American presence is somehow beneficial to the host nation? Why are Americans and NOT Chinese invited to station troops in a host country? Could it be that Americans are GOOD?
Nice try HH. Going into the offensive will not work this time.
My question is simple: Would you or would you not be pissed if foreign troops were stationed a few blocks away from your house? I for one, would feel that the sovereignty of my country has been violated. How about you? Answer that, then we can dwell into the “inherently good American” business.
If my country was falling apart at the seams, radical maniacs were everywhere, and the presence of law-abiding Chinese troops kept the peace, then God bless 'em.
Now, you show me where an American military base is and the majority of people don’t want them there. Then, you have to explain why the Americans stay when they are so hated by the locals. (And don’t bring up Korea. Koreans bitch but they know KJ IL will be on them like a chicken on corn. They bark, but won’t bite.)
