The first Spanish I learned were insults, same with Italian and Cecilian (sp?). About all I know still.

Exactly, i’ve known the insults since i was 10, i can pretty much follow a conversation as well, but its hard with an engine running, sat in a car while the guy was bellowing at me.

My arabic isn’t bad, difficult to speak but understanding isn’t so hard.

I reckon its pretty cool, but lucky the other blokes didn’t jump in and smash you up.

Fair enough.

I stopped reading when 4 other dudes turned to 6.

the 2 extra guys were on the street where it happened, they weren’t fighting against me they were just trying to diffuse the situation.

Let us remember that the true test of a civilized society is measured by the number of people who stand around cheering the fight on while video taping it on their phone and posting it on YouTUBE and Facebook.

I keep trying to tell people. It’s the new Beirut around here.

That guy is a prick. It amazes me how quickly people go from zero to pissed in any situation involving cars. At the on ramp I use every morning, its pretty common to see middle aged women ready to tear each other apart. That being said you are lucky not to have been killed. It wasnt until I did a summer of trade work that I learned how many people really carry guns in their cars. At least with the guys I worked with it was a solid 75%. I am not sure if I would have pulled that same shit, regardless if I could take the guy or not.

Normally i wouldn’t get into this type of situation, but with the way it happened there wasn’t much alternative.

Do you offer correspondence courses on street fighting? I feel like you’re the type of guy who could really help me with that. Any tips?

I read an essay once on social differences between westerners and Arabs, the crux being that Arabs assume entitlement to all space in their proximity, including roadways- and they will fight about it.

Sounds exactly like what happened to you.

I’d say you did well to put him in his place.

Or, in the hospital in the very least, on life support.

You were lucky this time. As much as I lose my shit while driving, i’m not stopping and getting out of my car for anyone.

There’s no shame in self preservation.
