22 YO Male, Low T, Low Sex Drive

Just a little update… with some good and bad news…

I am feeling awesome! It has been about a month and a half now and everything is going great! I am thinking about adding in HCG at 250iu E3D just to see how much a difference it makes. But other than that, my energy is up, my strength is up, my libido is up. Overall, I am happy that I began TRT.

Bad news: My dad may end up losing his job in the coming weeks or months and so I might have to end up getting off of TRT which is a huge bummer because I feel so much better. I obviously couldn’t afford this stuff without insurance. So if I do lose my insurance, what would be the best way to get off of TRT? I have some leftover Clomid from when I was prescribed that, and I also have HCG.

Would HCG and Clomid together be a good way to slowly taper off of TRT. Or should I just taper the test even though it is already a low dose? Some help would be appreciated just in case my dad loses his job!

Do not take a SERM and hCG together as they are doing the same thing.
Use hCG to restore testes
then
switch to 25mg clomid EOD
then
slowly taper off of clomid
It would be helpful to be using anastrozole 0.5mg/week in divided doses then cruising on that. And the E2 labs that you did not do.

Sorry about the circumstances.

Okay I know this is an old thread but I can finally revive it since I have health insurance again. Although I only have Kaiser so I’m afraid the treatment, or lack thereof, be terrible.

Total T: 409 (250 - 1100)
Free T: 56 (35 - 155)
Prolactin: 7 (3 - 13)
LH: 3 mIU (<=10 mIU/ml)
FSH: 2 mIU (<= 18 mIU/ml)
TSH: 1.88 (0.34 - 5.60)
fT4: 0.9 (0.9 - 1.7)
Ferritin: 162 (35 - 463)
HbA1c: 5.5% (<= 5.6%)
RBC: 4.44 (4 - 5.50)

pretty much everything else was normal. Ever since my taper off of clomid a year ago, I’d say I’m back to where I started. Lack of sex drive, no lust for sex. It’s annoying. And I just got a call from my doctor saying that since my Testosterone is in range, I won’t receive treatment. But how can I convey to him that I was actually able to get boners when I was on treatment.

Symptoms as of now:
No sex drive
no morning wood
poor control of stream when peeing
muscle loss

I’ve recorded daily temperatures for a week and my body got up to 98.5 everyday, while waking up at about 97.3 everyday. I am sure to take in Iodized salt everyday, and have been doing that consistently for the past year at least, ever since I learned about Iodine deficiencies.

I have a phone call with my doctor today, what should I say? I know I plan to bring up my lethargy and my ED issues, and my energy always seems to crash around 7 and I get so tired. I don’t even have a stressful or exhausting job. I’m also going to bring up the fact that my balls are a lot smaller than what they were when I was on Clomid and could get boners. It’s really hard knowing that you can’t perform in bed while trying to meet women. It’s definitely a confidence-knocker.

Hi.

First, you tell your doctor all of your symptoms as you state.

It hastily seems to me that you stopped your trt long time ago.
If so, you canno’t expect anything else than your current state.
Trt is almost always life long commitment when it comes to treatment.

You need to argue with your doctor that in range doesn’t equal good, this is very important and is SO USUAL response from doctors. You need to go by feel and by symptoms, all humans are unique and different. Be decicive, and argue, state that you know this to be true and there’s no point for the doctor to argue about it.

I haven’t done unit conversion in long time to see where you stand with the ranges i’m accustomed to use, but i can instantly say, that it’s in the lower end. It’s only 159 above the lower range. Any doctor worth their salt would know this. You need to get that estradiol checked aswell at some point, though first prioritize is to resume the TRT asap, and go by the feel and later on labs, then check your E2 levels.

If all this fails, you need to change doctors. There’s no way around it unles you want to suffer rest of your life that way, assuming your state is because of testosterone which seems to be the case.

It really pains me to read these things all over and not because of common people, but because of general incompetency of doctors.

Yeah, well i was never actually on HRT, but Clomid. But the Clomid didn’t work to jumpstart my natural production, clearly, and so I’m thinking HRT is the only way to go. I do plan to argue with him, because I know my body a lot better than him.

I know that I should have gotten E2 checked already, but I spaced getting it tested and of course the doctor didn’t think to.

The thing I hate the most about all of this is that I workout 4-5 days per week, eat good quality food, get enough sleep, eat salt, etc…and I still have the issue. I do everything I can to be healthy, but my natural T production is low and it sucks. It leads to lack of confidence and that’s no way to live. And then there’s the fact that I’m sure he thinks I’ve used steroids because I have some muscle mass, not a lot, but some and the doc probably thinks I used it and it went bad and then I went off and my natural production tanked. but I’ve never used anabolics, I am just dedicated to my health and this is what I have to show for it.

Update: Well, phone call with doc went about as expected. Since I’m in range, no need to treat. Basically saying that the range isn’t age specific and that a 23-year old with low T is totally normal. Freaking stupid.
