2014 NFL Off Season

I feel bad for Hoyer in this though. They will be calling for his head quickly because the Browns are likely 1-4 team to start, 2-3 would be a success, just because of scheduling, and he will end up on their bench while Johnny Football goes in and Weeden’s out for 5 or 6 games before being sidelined.

I agree with the Hoyer part of this. The dude looked exciting last year until his knee exploded. I’d like to see him sent to another team where he could get the potential to gain full time starter status. He does not have that option here as the Browns will have to devote themselves to Manziel

The predator diet’s getting to your head…

I think you’re underestimating the importance of decision making in the NFL.

Brandon Weeden has a cannon for an arm, but shits his pants and can not make a decision with the football. (have fun with that cowboy fans lol) Hoyer steps in, and the offense looked like a whole different team because he was making fast reads, and doing something with the football. Whether he threw it away or completed a pass, he was able to decide on the right play, the right play being the most important factor. I dont see anyway in hell manziel is going to make better decisions than someone who’s started games, knows the speed and learned from the best (hoyer sat behind Tom freaking Brady for 3years).

I’ll take the guy who makes the best decisions with the football over luck any day of week.

manziel is not andrew luck.

Hahhahaahahahahaha…No

Hoyer was damn good before he got injured. Not only that, but the his teammates responded to him and looked to him as a leader. Hope he gets a chance to start.

If he can stay Healthy he can.

Hoyer is by no means injury prone. His ACL tear was due to poor form sliding and a late/dirty hit by the buffalo lb on thursday night, which was not called. He should be able to stay healthy, and his game is not based off being mobile so he should be alright. Hoyer’s real talent/skill is between the ears.

I’ll keep saying it, i hope john football never sees the field after pre-season.

I will admit, that I didn’t really see Hoyer play. Only because the Browns weren’t on TV nationally. But, that is going to change real quick. And it wont be because of Hoyer

If Gordon and Manziel start all 16 games this season, you guys will have to start calling him “Johnny Pro Bowl”

Hoyer might be the most overrated QB in the NFL right now and he can thank Manziel, because apparently EVERYONE wants to think he’s the shining light of the franchise so that Johnny has to sit down for awhile. I’m not saying he’s bad, I’m not even saying I may not want him to start(If he’s better in camp, he’s better, start the better player please) but I remember saying in last year’s thread that his TWO games included one ‘good’ one(the Cincy game) and one ‘eh’ one(the MIN game where he put up stats against a shit pile of a defense, while also throwing a bunch of picks). He literally played a series against Buffalo.

There are tons of QBs that have had themselves a game or two and gone on to do absolutely fucking nothing, slow the train way the fuck down please.

Johnny Pro Bowl. Fucking greatness.

as a Browns fan i consider myself an expert in watching bad qb play. Hoyer was something different.

I seriously do not understand the hype around a player who’s main skill set is getting lucky, and has not played 1 down in the league.

I can certainly appreciate what you are saying here. My opinion though is that Hoyer actually gave me a reason to WATCH the Browns. It was actually exciting to watch them play- I looked forward to their games. As soon as he went down and Weeden was back in the mix it was time to flip the channel.

I’ve reduced my cable/internet pretty drastically so the only games I am going to get this season are going to be whatever is broadcast locally and possibly ESPN games.

Then in my opinion you have a very good reason to tune into your Browns this year.

You might not know it yet, but you’re going to learn soon enough.

Oh yeah…u gonna learn tuday! (Tuday meaning when the season gets going)

Lifetime Browns fan here and I really like Hoyer. The above statement is about 100% accurate. We as Browns fans know what happens when we don’t groom our quarterbacks. Let Manziel sit behind Hoyer until he matures. I do disagree with his skill set being luck though. You win the Heisman as a Freshman IMO there is more than luck there. Still I’d be lying if I said I can’t wait to watch the Browns this year.

Manziel’s skill set is not getting lucky. The kid can make every throw. He was 62 for 63 at his pro day, including a 60 yarder that was dead on accurate.
Browns fans have a limited window on how long Manziel is in Cleveland. If he is ready, “put him in coach, he’s ready to play” and milk it for all it’s worth. Y’all will get into the second season, and who knows what will happen there.
A QB that looked good in TWO games, keeping the guy who can take y’all to next level on the bench, is not going to happen.

Two NFL games though. Not college or a pro day with no pass rush. I hope your right that he could take us to the next level. Although some grooming Aaron Rodgers style couldn’t hurt IMO if he’s that guy.

using “y’all” in writing, TWICE, i cant read anything you write seriously. You best be fixing to learn them thur words good.

Just everyone keep focusing on john football, who will have his neck broken the first real hit he takes from an NFL lineman/LB, and will hopefully never see the field cause he wont be able to make the plays he made in college against pros…

What nobody is talking about, is that the Browns could have a dominate top 5 defense this year, and maybe the best defensive back field in the game if Justin Gilbert can learn from donte hitner, and joe haden.

continue on with the regularly scheduled john football hype…
