2011 NBA Playoffs

Just got a phone call from one of my really good buddies who I was in the military with. He moved back to Oklahoma after getting out and works as a trainer in a gym out there (not sure what the name is)

he said he was finishing up with one of his clients today when Blake Griffin walked in. Griffin got a membership there for the summer and will be training at my buddies gym. He’s the top trainer there so he’s going to talk to Griffin and try to work him out a few times. That so bad ass! Even if he doesnt get to train him/with him it’ll still be awesome. He said he’s gonna get a pic with him at the gym and send it to me.

He said Griffin is really tall (obviously) but looks a lot more thin IRL. he said he has a big frame but looked a little thin in a regular shirt and not a basketball jersey.
My ex’s roommate saw Griffin at OU and said his dad is a big tall black man and mom is a tiny ginger. Said it’s just a funny sight.

Greg,

Tell your buddy to get Griffin to do a plank…and take a photo and send it to you so you can post it.

Random stats note WhiteFlash will hate: OKC outrebounded DAL by 22 and LOST. TWENTY-TWO!!! I don’t remember the last time I’ve seen that. Also, 20 offensive rebounds (!!)
That is fucking crazy, and goes against one of the chief principles of basketball. Pat Riley said “No rebounds, no rings.” That tells me that Dallas has be to be shooting something crazy efficient. What is their team fg% for the series? I think OKC is out shooting 'em from the line too, right? This playoff run [outside of the 1st round against Portland] has to be one of the most efficient runs in NBA history. You are not supposed to get out rebounded, out shot from the line and outplayed for huge chunks of games and still win. Everything Dallas is doing this year defies basketball logic. Think it’s their year.
OKC actually outshot them for the game too (46.7% vs. 43.2%). DAL won with turnovers (13 vs. 25), FT shooting (34-of-39 WOW, vs. 19-for-25 including Westbrook missing 2 straight clutch FTs that kept DAL in the game late)… and to a lesser extent they won with 3pt shooting too (8/25 vs. 2/13).

For the postseason, DAL is shooting 39.6% from 3, 46.7% from the floor and an incredible 81.6% from the line. They are +11pts per 48mins with Dirk on the floor and -4pts per 48mins with him on the bench.

Dirk is shooting 52% overall, 52% from 3 (only taking 2 per game), and 92% from the line (taking nearly 10 per game).

Stats via the box score on ESPN for last night’s game, and www.nba.com/statscube for the playoff-long stats
So Dallas as a team is shooting 40% from 3, 47% from the field and 82% from the line? That’s bananas. Gotta be honest, think we’re gonna see a DAL/MIA rematch, with Dallas taking it in 6. I’d rather watch a DAL/CHI Finals, but the Bulls point blank just aren’t playing that well.

that would be amazing! I’ll call him right now (my buddy not blake griffin)

What the fuck. CHI is walking all over MIA…wow.

That bucket by Deng represented the poise of CHI right now: confident. Muddy shoes in the house of Riley.

This game will be nuts.

EDIT:

Messed up that Boozer (allegedly, commentators are talking bout it) referred to MIA as “the big TWO”…“making no mention of Chris Bosh who’s had two big games…”

Where does the fine from Noah go? To the league or a local chapter of a gay/lesbian non profit? Just curious. Hope it’s the latter.

Forgot to bring it up, but did y’all see last game when Wade went to the rack and completely hung himself on a dunk attempt? The announcers didn’t bring it up, it didn’t make any highlights and the play was completely swept under the rug. It’s like “they” don’twant to embarass such a big name player, but that shit was hysterical. He fell to the ground and everything.

Bet you wish you waited a little while to post this

Funny, I think I know which play you’re talking about, because it wasn’t mentioned, I’m not sure now. Can you find a clip online?

I didn’t expect it to keep up but the way CHI was scoring even in those opening minutes…was a bit embarrassing.

DAMN! Rose just made a nasty dunk! He FLEW down the court and smashed that cockback dunk. SICK!

Holy Shit! Rose with another monster dunk for a SECOND 3 point play. Rose is doing work!

Beat me to it greg… I’m pretty sure my roommate heard me screaming from the 3rd floor with her door closed.

hahaha I yelled too. Those were two sick dunks. I like when he goes to the rim trying to dunk rather than hit some winding twisting quadruple pump layup lol

to be fair though, when Miami made their run to catch up the Bulls were just flat out missing wide open shots. They missed 3 or 4 wide open 3’s and missed a few jumpers too that werent even really contested.

It pissed me off that the announcers were saying how Miami’s defense was stopping the bulls because they werent. Chicago just missed 5 or 6 open shots in a row.

Both are better than pull-up contested 3s off the dribble.

I mean, he’s still 4-for-14, but I like the fact they came back there. MIA was straight up owning them and they had some fight in them.

One play I could use a lot less of is Deng dribbling to the FT line, picking up his dribble and passing back out up top. Pssst…Deng…LeBron knows it’s coming bro

wow that was quick

That’s not it but it’s funny that he’s missed at least 2 dunks this series. It was in traffic, and he tried to punch it hard but jammed the ball against the rim and fell to the floor. It was awesome, but NO ONE mentioned it. I’ll see if I can find it.

I didn’t see the other one, but I think it’s pretty damn funny he missed with no one within 10 feet of him on an open breakaway.

You know, you’re right… I’m not viewing this objectively because they’re my team. I just saw all the mistakes (passing up open shots, missing open shots), and not seeing the bigger picture.

I also saw CJ Watson dribbling off his own foot.

I still think Chicago looks shaky for a team down 2-1, MIA will still win this game.
