2009 NBA Playoffs

Looks like the word of the day last night was aggression. Skip pimp-slapping House in the back of the head, Derek Fisher thinking he’s a linebacker and knocking Scola to the floor, Artest getting in Kobe’s face, Odom getting in Scola’s face most of the night. The excitement is great. BOS and LAL responded well in their victories. Kobe’s 40 was big for the Lakers.

Did you guys see Von Wafer get sent to the locker room at the end of 3q for apparently arguing with Adelman? Curious as to what was said. Cooler heads need to prevail for HOU for them to try to beat LAL.

The intensity is already super high in the LA – HOU series. I have a little advice for Artest, In the NBA Kobe can get away with anything – He ain’t gonna get called for a little elbow shot at the neck. If you are gonna get ejected you ought to make it count. Yeah TMoney that Von Wafer/Adelman deal, I am very curious about that. If you read something let us know.

Gonna disagree with this. Kobe Bryant gets almost no love from officials, especially in comparison to the other big name players. With that, don’t think the elbow was meant for the neck, it was meant to get Artest off of him. Houston needs to be worried. They’re playing as well as they have all season, and LA isn’t really clicking yet aside from Bryant. Artest getting ejected and Wafer actin’ an ass aren’t helping. I think they’ve got as good a shot as anyone at stopping the Lakers, they just can’t make these boneheaded mistakes anymore.

Yea, seriously, things are getting heated up in the 2nd round. Can’t wait to see what unfolds in the next coming games. More ejections and game suspensions!!???

Kobe’s elbow did not hit Artest in the head or the neck!

Give Kobe a Flagrant if it makes you feel better Stu, but this is in no way a suspension.

Yeah Kobe was getting position, I don’t think anything will happen. Guarantee you when Stu was shown on TV, he was texting Stern to let him know of the situation, if Stern wasn’t watching the game.

Fisher, on the other hand, looks like he will miss game 3.

I agree it shouldn’t be a flagrant at all on Kobe. There was no foul on Artest though so i can see why he was upset. He just completely overreacted to it.

Skip and Fish out for Game 3:

Have ya’ll heard about this chick getting arrested at Dirk’s house the other day? She is rumored to be his fiance and is FUUGLY!

Rockets need the series lead back tonight and Fisher is out. I hear fans will be sporting bloody faces at the home game ala Shane Battier.

It was nothing more than an arugemnt about getting put on the bench by Adelman. Wafer was drafted by the Lakers. I think he has a personal vendetta to show them what they passed up on.

Here is some other things our Houston paper I thought was funny. The Rockets better not let the Lakers get any layup without a clothesline. This series is only going to get better…er, bloodier.

“I thought above the shoulders was a game (suspension), but I guess you can throw elbows above the shoulders,” Artest said. "I think Stu (Jackson, the NBA vice president) needs to re-look at that. When you look at that elbow, if that was me throwing that elbow at Kobe, first of all I would have hurt Kobe way more than he hurt me. I probably would have knocked him out with the same force he used on me. Second, it?s dangerous.

“That shows me, if Kobe hits me with an elbow, I can just get hit. That just goes to show what type of person Stu Jackson is. I got suspended for a lighter elbow in San Antonio (in the 2006 first round). Maybe David Stern needs to talk to Stu Jackson. It?s not fair. He just got a flagrant-1?”

In just two games, there have been five technical fouls, three bloodied players, two ejections, two flagrant fouls, a suspension and one spectacular, profane Jack Nicholson tantrum in which he all but shouted that official Bill Spooner was messing “with the wrong Marine.”

What is that all about?!?!?!? I don’t even know where to begin, so I’ll reserve judgment. I wish Dirk the best.

Bloody faces? HHMMM that will be interesting to see.

preciate the clarification JG. I assume Wafer will be back tonight.

LOL @ Nicholson, I guess someone can’t handle the truth.

Kobe’s elbow was clearly a flagrant, if you read the rules. So the NBA was right to call it after the game. But fat lot of good that does Houston. This series could quickly get out of hand. I think the refs are going to call tonight’s game super tight. Houston may have already allowed LA to get into their heads, we’ll see.
Dirk’s situation? Don’t these guys get told by the league that there all kind of chicks out there that see them as insant gravy trains? How do these guys let themselves get into these situations?

I think Wafer will be back but between Brooks and Lowery there is not a lot of minutes but he should get his time usually with Landry and the ‘quick squad’.

The bloody face is just something I heard on the radio… we’ll see but I hope so. I knoe they are giving out Von-Hawks (Von Wafer MoHawks) free at the game (home games vs. Portland too).

What happens in Orlando? With Rafer out I think the Magic may be in trouble.

Yeah, now if we could just get Stu Jackson to read the rules… (re: Rondo)

Re Rondo: Good point!

Here’s a “bloody face” at the Rockets game tonight.

Rockets fans pulled out all the stops to try to slow Kobe. Didn’t help.

Kobe takes the floor for Game 3. That 3 at the end of the third quarter was just sick.

Yeah, the Von Wafer thing was basically about him arguing with Adelman about getting taken out. No one would discuss the exact words but Adelman said this has been a recurring issue with Wafer and that’s why he felt he had to take the action he did. Hopefully for Wafer, he’ll learn to man up and put the team first.
