Modern English needs an explicitly plural 2nd person pronoun. The confusion that this lack causes is an interesting example of why allowing single people to be called by they/them is confusing on a strictly grammatical level.

That word was āyouā
English once used āthouā, ātheeā, and āthineā as second person singular. But those days have been left far in the rear view mirror.
English historically has a lot of the same problems as certain other languages where the distinctions between formal/informal and plural/singular had a weird intersection. āYouā could be used as both plural or formal, while āthouā was only singular. I support the use of the word āyeā as plural since this is historically the way that it was used.
āYeā is the subjective form of second person plural.
āYouā is the objective form of second person plural.
āYourā is the possessive form of second person plural.

I didnāt think that was right. I was just looking for a meme with the quote, because itās true regardless of whether an author said it or some random nobody did.
fun story: In the late 80ās (I believe 1986), my uncleās brother, Lyle, retired from construction, at the age of 65. he retired for essentially a month, and he was going stir crazy. So, my grandfather, who owned my company at the time, offered him a job. It was a manual labor job.
Lyle worked at my company until his 90th birthday, at which point he retired. 25 full years after his initial āretirementā. Several years prior to his retirement from my company, his wife passed away. I think it was almost ten years prior. I remember at the time, he told me that if he wasnāt working, he wouldnāt have lived a year past her, maybe 2. He ended up living a few more years after he retired, in total outliving his wife by more than a decade.
Work keeps us alive, healthy, thriving. I understand why so many people who can retire, donāt.

Abbot, despite his āman of the peopleā schtick, is Old Guard Republican through and through. In fact, I cant think of any significantly powerful/influential elected Republican Texans who would be considered against the RNC-grain (so to speak). Even a young guy like Dan Crenshaw is in lockstep. Modern Florida strikes me as what Texas used to be before all these folks assumed full power in the 90ās. People talk about how great living in Texas still is, and I tell them to wake up and dig into fact and history. The current Texas powers that be have, in my opinion, screwed us (native Texan here) just as bad as the Congressional Democrats on the federal levelā¦just in different ways/contexts. These people are not representing us, and they have wrecked this state in countless ways the past 30-ish years. Ill be glad when theyre out of the public eye, assuming some younger bucks come along that are more in line with the federal freedom caucus (and not just lip service).
At this point, I no longer make practical distinction between the influential Texas Republicans and your typical Democrat from anywhere. Same empty promises. Same lies. Same self serving motivations. The people of Texas suffer for it.

Nice, thatās pretty much my stance now. The times Iāve voted, both D and R, I felt as I voted against my own freedom.
So my view now is to keep Congress divided, I donāt want a damn thing, so stop telling me your going to do this or that for me, I didnāt ask for it anyway, Iāll look after me.
Iāll try to keep them divided if my vote counts.
Itās all a dance to them, and the words Democracy and laws, well they get thrown around bit. Most Laws are BS, even when someone with a R says ānation of lawsā and a Democracy is only as good as the intelligence of the majority, lol thatās real refreshing.

That whole region through the 79/279 coridor has really sprung up in the last 10 years or so. Iām only familiar with it passing through on the way up to McConnells Mills & stuff, but Iāve heard some very nice things about it.

I donāt want anything from them, I donāt care about their laws, police, religion, global azz kissing agendas on climate or security.
I follow the law the humanity, I donāt steal or physically hurt anyone but we should be able to defend ourselves.
The justice system is a game. Play the game to save your azz, guilty or not, no one cares.

Has anyone noticed that both sides really want full prisons, the system fueled by crime of some sort. Everyoneās gotta get paid and without crime no one gets paid, Iād think?
Hence, the left enforces all this social justice to keep people out of prison however they need to fill the prisons, and they know it, hence COVID crimes, political crimes etc etc. They could careless if mis-information people rot in a cell.
Iām not just picking on Dems here. Iām for freedom and there isnāt real freedom with Republican party rule either. Yeah, Iām a fan a making sure no laws can get passed in congress, Iām forced to pay taxes, I feel I get my money worth by them doing jack shit.

Prisons are privatized and one of the biggest lobbyist groups.
Each prisoner is worth the same amount, but for violent prisoners the guard ratio is smaller. For non-violent prisoners it is less guards, so they make more profit off of them.
This is why 46% of the prison system is made up of non-violent offenders - mostly drug users.
It is pathetic really.
